I do however now have a question about the exception from NI class 2 contributions form now. Question 15 asks if you work for one or more employers please give the estimates for the year beginning 6th April 2009. Is that just self employed or does that include my day job as well?

I only ask because my I remember my dad filling in a box for the taxman incorrectly and it being a major issue for ages! I don't want to get on the wrong side of said man!

So you have a proper job. Then you are already paying NHI and don't need to fill in the form as I understand things.

Same with tax. If you are paying tax through PAYE then when you fill in your yearly return you just put down your MS earnings as well (along with the expenses of course :) )

Hi Scotsbob - sorry but I don't think this is true after having spent hours on the phone talking to the self-employment people :) I have a normal job too and pay NI through this, but do not have to pay NI for Mystery shopping as I don't do enough of it.

You have to pay Class II Nat Insurance for Mystery Shopping only if you earn over a certain amount for the year (on top of your normal job). This amount is £5075 according to the form I will direct you to below.

Once you've registered as self employed, they will send you a bill for NI for the year. If you don't wish to pay this as you will earn less than £5075, you need to fill out a 'Small Earnings' form.

    Here's the small earnings form:
    http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/forms/cf10.pdf

So for Q15 you would just put your normal job expected earnings I believe - this is what I did, as Q12 asks for your expected earnings from Mystery Shopping.

Hope I've helped a little and not confused you even more Twinklie! :)
  • I have a competitor betting shop to do for Gap next week. However having checked it out for opening times etc I have found out its not at the address they say its at! There is one in the same street about 100 doors down though. Apparantly the one at the address gap gave me has closed down. So....do i shop the one i know is the wrong address or tell gap its closed

You should tell Gap its closed.

They like to know when they have details wrong.

However - if you go to do the shop, look around and it's not there, you can email them a query and once they have verified the change they usually pay you either the full fee or the "closed shop fee" (around half the full fee) and offer you the real address.

Ooohh another story! I sort of remember a discussion about taking photographs.

I had to take one for that French sandwich place for RE and was stopped by a Patrol guard! He asked me to go to the Security Controller and apply for a permit. Did try to show him my paperwork but no go. Emailed RE back and they said it was fine but I was still docked 1 point. :)

I had to take a photograph of a certain place and, unknown to me, there were two policeman at the back of the shop. One came out and threatened me with the anti terrorist act. He calmed down when I told him what I was doing and that he could hardly be seen in the photograph.

Hi. I've been MSing for a couple of moths now, but something still makes me wonder. I've only done 10 or so jobs, but using the spreadsheet for accounts, I am coming across as making a loss. This doesn't bother me because I like doing it, and petrol doesn't cost 40p per mile ;-)

I'm just wandering if many other people come acorss on paper as a loss? The reason I'm asking, is becuase a few jobs I would like, are about 20 miles away, and so would cost £16 in fuel there and back, on paper. I wouldn't be getting that much for the job. Like I say, I would like the job because I would get £15 worth of goodies. And it doesn;t bother me if I'm at loss. I'm just curious as to what happens at the end of the year if I'm on a loss on paper?

Do you have a "proper" job? One where you pay tax through PAYE? i.e not self-employed?

If so, then your tax would be slightly reduced to offset your self-employment loss. Hence, it's good to make a paper loss! ;-)

If any of the jobsworths at HMRC question the loss, simply tell them that it's not their job to give you business advice, so to keep their noses out. (advice taken from a friend of someone on here, I think!)
  • GFK payments are showing as being paid...but date is 24th:confused: Looks good anyway.

Can any one tell me please...if I am owed a payment of 14 euros what is that likely to be in £, I don't think my bank charges to convert it into £.

RQA have just sent a general email to their shoppers to say they are looking for someone in Seaton, Devon, for a product pick up.
They have said if you know of anyone etc so that's why I'm posting on here!
It's urgent with a great fee & mileage.
PM if you want the details.

Can somebody tell me if they've ever had any problems with REACT, or if they've always been good? I've never worked with them before but now it looks like I'll be shelling out about £70 for a flight in order to do an airside job, and I want to be sure they'll reimburse me!

    Hi,

I have never had any problems with React. I have never had to pay for a flight, but their expenses are at a set mileage rate and parking costs on top of that, and I have never had any trouble. As long as you can justify and prove the expense, I am sure you will get reimbursed. (They are also quick to respond to emails, so could send them a message for peace of mind).
