GAP have just e-mailed me asking me to do a burger job for a place which I know for a fact is closed for a re-furb. Will they still pay the fee if I arrive there and it's still closed?

It doesn't matter much to me as I am in that area, I just wondered if I should just take it anyway and send them a nice pic of the building work!?
  • An update on my RE Spanish job query about the salad - the query has disappeared but the payment is still pending. The job I did after that one (Monday) has moved to payment, whereas the troublesome one is still showing as pending. I can't check my emails until 12 noon, but is this looking good or bad?

For those that don't know, the briefing notes didn't say anything about a salad, but after I printed them off, they changed them. I didn't order a salad, and put that in my report. They told me it had always been in the briefing notes, so I emailed them a pdf of the original notes to prove that it had not been in my notes!

I would do it - you would have done it if you hadn't known it was closed, right?

What I don't understand is why someone who uses another forum -wants to come on this one and change it ? Why does it matter if we choose a more laid back approach and wish TG junior well with his Swine Flu -some forums are No Chat/Just Business others are more of a community. We don't have as many rules here as some other forums (partly because we like it that way and partly because we have no way of enforcing them as MSE is generally unmoderated) so we do things differently-we encourage chat (but NOT on the alerts thread please ! ;) ) Different strokes for different folks-how boring and pointless it would be if all forums were the same !!
I do see why some people get aereated over the constant same question. There's a limited number of jobs to go around and whilst people ARE generally helpful and share I can quite see why they don't want to further dilute the job pool with folk who can't even be bothered reading back or searching before asking for help. Yes I do think general guidence on how to add clients should be in the FAQ on the first page-and could be added now rather than wait for a new thread so there is somewhere to direct people to which would cut down on the sarky comments and irritation factor. Most people on here are genuinely helpful and I'd hate to see that lost because people get fed up or feel taken advantage of.
Well said. :T :T And I'm happy to report that TractorJunior seems a lot better this morning, but we're still going to the doctors anyway, if only to get a 'script for more Calpol and Nurofen so I don't have to buy it!!!

Why don't you ring RE instead and see if you can reschedule it (if you can't reschedule on the system) rather than cancel it. I've found them very helpful when I've had difficulties like that.
Yes, me too. And as it wasn't your fault don't worry. But do call them, quite often jobs appear on the board where the deadline has passed and you can accept it and then ring them to extend the deadline. Worth a try?
    Phew *sigh of relief*!

I now have -4 points after I released it instead of my previous 0 points (that makes me look so bad :()

But I still see 72 jobs - yay! Now I just have to go to my doctor and pick up my prescription as they are all pharmacy jobs, and hope that they are still on when I get back from work.
Why not pick the pharmacy job before you go if you are sure you're going to get a 'script?

Yep, I agree. I did this twice with RE with an off licence. The first time, I explained it was shut and sent photos of it all boarded up with 4' high weeds at the door and I got paid the visit fee. Next month .. job still there so I ignored it. They rang me asking me to do it! I explained again, and they said no, we've checked with the company, its definitely open. So I went back , took another photo of the now 5' weeds, and got paid again! Next month .. the job didn't appear :rotfl::rotfl:

Absolutelynomoney, you wont be saying that when you have done one, they are a ball ache, why do you think they stay on there forever, then you get phone call after phone call being quizzed.I would stay clear if i was you.

Hmmm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing, what did they say when you had emailed them your original briefing notes??.... you have the proof that the salad was not listed so i do think you should be paid......have you called them?? ;)

    Good luck anyway!

I haven't spoken to them yet, I spoke to them to query the inital questionnaire as the drinks were confusing me - talking about ordering a particular beer when there was nothing on the notes. I also mentioned that it talked about ordering a bottle of wine on the questionnaire, and said there were a couple of other anomilies (sp). They emailed out clarifying the drinks situation, but that was all.

I emailed the proofreading team twice with the same information as they sent a reminder message 6 hours after I sent the pdf as proof!

Possibly that won't be an issue for her-as she doesn't have balls (the clue is in the name :) )

If you keep getting phonecalls then maybe it's you not them-I rarely get calls from them and I do several jobs for them every week.

EDIT Send the proof readers round I just realised I read the poster's name as absolutemommy :rotfl::rotfl:

Its only calls from them regarding , the staff query everything and for the money it aint worth it i feel. Also having to take a photo when you already have a receipt is a joke, especially when there is a school or a nursery next door, you expect a tap on the shoulder from Mr plod, very uncomfortable position to be in.
