Prime example of the sort of comments that I was receiving is the one above my post. Thanks for sharing that with us, Knub.

You're welcome, it was an off the cuff, light hearted reason as to why the thread might have gone.

No need to take offence as none was intended ;)

Thanks for the update sadandupset. I'm not surprised you asked for thread to be deleted, as the day wore on I also felt the comments were becoming more extreme and less helpful.

I think you're doing the right thing, there are undoubtedly marriages that have been through far worse and still come out the other side I hope you can work things out together.

    Take care xx

Thanks for posting and letting us know sadandupset, I understand that the thread might have upset you, however I do think the vast majoirty of posters thought your husbands actions were dispicable, and were firmly on your side.

Best of luck in trying to rebuild the trust in yuor relationship, I think it was suggested yesterday, but if you didn't seeit, I would recomend trying a councillor so you can understand why he did it, how he could lie to you for so long until he was caught out, and move on from that in a way that suits you.

I know everybody usually means well, but sometimes we can forget how raw and delicate a person can be who's actually going through a real trauma in their lives.

Trouble is this: imagine when you start a thread on MSE that the posters are strangers that have come to sit around your table in the pub to share your troubles. You haven't picked them as you do with friends in a real situation to ensure you have support around you, these strangers might say anything and usually do!

So although we don't always like what we hear, the hugely differing opinions on these online forums can help to put a different perspective on your plight that you might not even consider otherwise.

Sometimes, hard though it seems, it can be helpful to get the rough with the smooth - as I've found out many a time!

Be strong and I hope you won't stay 'sadandupset' for much longer. Him being sick still doesn't get my sympathy - I'm hard like that!

I was going to point something out here but I really can't be bothered and do not want to get into thread derailment and take this any further.

I apologise for my lighthearted comments earlier, nothing was said with malace or intent to upset the OP further. Humour is a way of relieving stress/tension/fear/anguish/sadness, although I now realise the inappropriateness of my actions.

Keeping in mind that this is an internet forum and is therefore damn serious business, I will refrain from commenting on this issue any further.

1 - MSE does not have mods - we have BGs (volunteers) and MSE staff (paid and employed by Martin - can be distinguished by the MSE at the start of their user names)

2 - There needs to be a good reason for a thread to be removed and usually only MSE staff will do this but it has to be justified.
