Hi All
Further to someones post I have been trying to find more info on fact the 3 launch £0 monthly contract SIM ZERO.
I would like to know, if you bring your own mobile thats say 3g enabled but not supplied by 3, do you actually get all the functionality eg skype, msm, etc especially as I think currently Syke you can only install on 3 supplied PAYG phones. I think I read 3 were going to allow non 3 supplied phones but cannot find any info to clarifiy this.
I know 3's customer service is poor, but this deal, does seem a realy good one.

Hi Scott
If you have a non 3 branded handset you need to do the following.
If its a model 3 have sold in the past you can download the 3 skype application from planet 3 and msn from planet 3 and these will run fine.
If its not then 3 are planning to extend the software to cover all 3g handsets later this year so you just need to be patient.
the tariff is
£0 p/m
20p per min calls to mobiles and landlines
10p per text
30p per mb of data
Free Skype, MSN and Voicemail
Just pay for what you use, 30 day rolling sim-only contract
We have sold loads of these in first 2 days, ideal for an emergency handset or to give to a friend/family member as pretty much every tariff has free 3-3 calls0 -
Thanks for that.
Question, would it not be a better deal to get on of the 3 PAYG SIm that also includes mobile internet and inclusive texts plus skype etc as I believe you only need to top up ever 90 days?

Depends what you need mate
The sim zero is aimed at either very low users people who want a spare emergency phone or those who can't be bothered to top up. you can add all the usual add-ons to it like unlimited data for £5 a month. But its not there to compete with PAYG but as an alternative.
the PAYG deal is by far the best on the market today0 -
>> I know 3's customer service is poor
I hope you have a good basis for forming this opinion. Even on PAYG, 3 have have free calls to customer service and that too 24x7.0 -
Well I see 'bad service' posts about thousands of different companies. A company with nearly 3 million customers can't be all bad0

Don't you read them?
There is not a single company without people whinging about their customer service offering.
So true, when the business is that big and there are that many customers to deal with, sometimes things can go wrong, even if they get things right 99% of the time there's still going to be complaints from 1000 customers. At that point what sets the great ones apart is what they do to make things right for the dissatisfied 1%0 -
While there is some element of truth to the fact that any big business will have unhappy customers, and negative posts will far outweigh positive ones, Three is by far the smallest UK MNO but there are still loads of complaints about it. It seems that Three has a greater proportion of unhappy customers.
It's also true you get free calls to customer service. But you get that with any provider. In Three's case, you get through to a call centre in India where they have trouble understanding simple requests. If there is anything which falls outside of their pre-scripted responses, there is nobody with any authority to resolve any problems. Dealing with Three customer service has always been an extremely frustrating experience.
Three has millions of subscribers for one reason alone: they tend to be slightly cheaper than the competition. But, as the adage goes, you get what you pay for.0 -

i used to work for them and their customer service is horrendous. I was often left soooo frustrated because i couldn't help customers with issues due to the call centre being so damn useless. It is better to be thought of as an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt
