My kids school where they start at 3 the younger ones can wear jogging bottoms (I have short kids and still had to lop a load off the bottom and reattach the elastic but it wasn't that bad) - school jumpers I got plain green sweatshirts off the market and then had the logo sown on.

With the girls it was slightly easier as they wore pinafore dresses so that the waists didn't matter, hems were 3/4 length.

When my son went to normal trousers (weather too warm for jogging bottoms) I got 3-4 trousers and put huge hems on them, and taking in the elasticated waists - the unexpected plus side was with the turn ups being past his knees it made his trousers last longer, now he goes through the knees so fast
  • My little one is tiny as well, she started nursery a few days after she turned 3. The school uniform tops were not such a problem but getting trousers for her was a problem too. We just went to Tescos and got her gray joggers. Not a perfet solution but they fit and she can pull them up and down fine. The school does not mind and at least she looks neat and tidy. We tried a belt with bigger trousers but the trousers are hard to pull up and down when the belt was tight enough to do its job.

I have had same problem. I opted for skirts with adjustable waists and jogging bottoms for my dd. My ds about to start nursery will have jogging bottoms. I have taken a gamble and ordereed them from M and S (aged 3) Mothercare and next also do 2-3. From memory mothercare were shorter than next ones.

Jogging bottoms are a non-starter for DS as they're invaribly huge on the waist and not adjustable.

And it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end

    I've been Money Tipped!
My v slim waisted lad started Nursery at age 3 years and 2 weeks in 2007.

I did lots of looking for 2yr old uniform, but the bits I found were far too pricey. Jogging bottoms were not allowed.

So we did lots of turning up, lots of adjustable waists and unpicking and restitching with Tesco uniform.

The T-shirts shrink after a few washes TBH, so fitted ok in December and I got generic jumpers from Tesco-the value ones are on the smaller side and shrink, so if you buy now and add into the washing over the summer, it should look perfect for September.
