Personally I would send the buyer the return postage costs and then put a claim in with royal mail ( im assuming you used them )for damaged post as you would get more off of them than what youve had to give your buyer for the postage so your not going to lose out.

    Emma :)

I would be tempted to tell her you will after all refund return postage on receipt of the item, then do just and ONLY that (probably cost you less than the £5 you already offered), and then send her a replacement item (well packaged!) with a covering note. Ebay sales are final after all. Dont of course warn her that or she will refuse delivery.

If the item was signed for, you wont get much joy with Royal mail. They will just say it was inadequate packaging.

Just to update you. I was too busy and fed up to argue anymore so I refunded her and she has kept the books - but yes you got it she negged me!! She didn't mention the supplier though. Over 1000 and 1 neg. not bad I suppose, but well she is a right Bleep.

I would have told her to show me proof of the item being damaged( photos or returning it) so i could deal with the matter or simply shut up. No matter how many emails she send me i would have stuck to my guns and sent her the same reply.
You get some ebayers who deliberatley try to be awkard as i believe was in your case, in which case i try to be firm with no ifs or buts accepted.

Just wondered if you could start a dispute against her for not returning the good? She seems to have got her cake and eaten it too as well as neging you.
