gallstones

hi sorry if this is posted in the incorrect place first of all
i have recently had 3 bad painfull attacks of gallstones,after the second one i went the doctors had a blood test and it found to have shown gallstones,i then have to go for a scan on wednesday,but 2 nights ago i had another one and had to go thehospital to get help with the pain,i have heard people say its worse than childbirth and i agree after 2 children!!its the never ending pain,twisting its horrible.
i just would like to know anyone who has suffered with them,what foods to avoid etc,i think i will have to have a operation but i will find more out in the next few weeks,its just to avoid the pain coming back really

    like zoeleigh i had a really painful time, was jaundiced too but the stone had moved before i got to gp. i was recommended an op too but am managing by watching diet. mine started after i lost two stone quickly when my husband was ill. i find a hot water bottle works wonders and cranberry juice works for me too
