I have an old p2 lappy, which has been in the loft for years. I have been looking at it recently, and as it is supercompact (netbook size) was gonna attempt to pimpp it.

Was gonna spray the outer case white for starters.

I like the look of puppylinux. Anyone know if this would be ok for my p2?

The way to see whether a Linux distro is suitable for your PC is to make yourself a Live CD. Then when you run it you'll find out whether it will recognize your hardware.
If Puppy Linux doesn't work for you then other light distros are DSL and Zenwalk.

Used it at university and only though about it twice since. Once was for this thread and the other was "what was that crappy operating system I used at university with the mouse with 3 buttons?"

Windows isn't free.
For a free OS other than Linux, there are Solaris, FreeBSDand Haiku (formerly BeOS) and I think that's about it.

There's always ReactOS.

I've never used it though, so I can't comment on it.
