    Personal experience, seeing lines up to 2km in length (2km line length, not straight line) sync'ing at 8Mbps. If you don't believe what I say, then just take a look at a few articles on the internet. For example, see here.

    On what basis do you make the statement "You will need to move next door to the exchange to get the full 8Mb I would imagine." ? ;)


    It will mainly be those with poor quality cabling, and people in the sticks miles from the exchange that will still be stuck on the lower range of speeds.
