Ive done a bit of reading online, and it seems that anyone who is on broadband and their exchange has been enabled will get the ADSL max.
I am on BT-yahoo 2meg at £26.99 a month, will my connection be upgraded to 8meg?0 -
I rang my ISP (Wanadoo)yesterday as my exchange, Long Eaton, has just been upgraded.
The nice Indian gentleman said it would take a few weeks to upgrade so I'm counting.
You will need to move next door to the exchange to get the full 8Mb I would imagine.

You can get a rough idea of your present download/upload performance here http://www.adslguide.org.uk/tools/speedtest.asp
If you go onto samknows site and put your phone number into the bt wholesale checker you should get an estimate of your ADSL max speed, so prorata up your current upload speed.
I'm currently on 2Mb and the rough estimate is that I'll be able to get 4Mb eventually, I'm approx 1.85 Km from the exchange. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

How's this for being close:
ADSL is available in your area
Your exchange is also enabled for ADSL Max services
According to BT Wholesale, your line should be able to support a 6.5Mbps or greater ADSL connection via ADSL Max.
Standard ADSL RAG results:
You can receive 2Mbps ADSL
You can receive 1Mbps ADSL
You can receive 512Kbps ADSL
You can receive 256Kbps ADSL
You are approximately 424 metres from the exchange (straight line distance). In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

For exisitng BT Broadband customers, BT will be rolling out the Max sevice in phase's.
They will start by accepting order from the 4th April, this will initally be limited to customers on the BT Broadband option 4, then it will be made avilable to option 3 customers, then option 2 and 1.
I shall confirm the exact dates on monday, when I return to work

penrhyn,
I also contacted Wanadoo and they informed me that they have “no details of any upgrades using the new BT ADSL Max system at this time”0 -
I am shocked and appalled, surely they were not telling me porkies?
Time will tell. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Its possible to receive the full 8Mbps downstream with a line that is up to 2km in length.penrhyn wrote:I rang my ISP (Wanadoo)You will need to move next door to the exchange to get the full 8Mb I would imagine.
Not a case of pro-rata up..... I would expect the majority of people will receive the full 448Kbps upstream sync - unless they have very very vey long lines, or poor quality.penrhyn wrote:If you go onto samknows site and put your phone number into the bt wholesale checker you should get an estimate of your ADSL max speed, so prorata up your current upload speed.0
