I had to put my middle one in a bed at 10 months as he was climbing up the cot sides and jumping off the top

He was fine but I did put a gate across his bedroom door to stop him wandering in the night.
Here I go again on my own....

Both for my children were in toddler beds at about 13/14months. We had a very low toddler bed from Ikea (similar to those pictured) both fell out once or twice but did not hurt themselves - just carried on sleeping on the floor!

Our son moved to a toddler bed at 15 months and then a full size single at 2, we just had a bed gaurd on it. Our daughter likewise moved to the toddler bed at 14 months and is fine - she now even goes into it to play when we are in her room - but we do use the bed gaurd still.

You OP made me smile to myself as my cousins 18month old was rocking his cot so much that he could it around the room...it was hilarious to watch!!

I moved my DD to a bed at 13/14months as I needed the cot back for no2. I thought it would take a while to get her settled in the bed but she was fine..she's now 18months and we recently had to get her a full sized single bed as she needs to have alot of room and was getting all squished in the cot bed as she sleeps across the bed!

We bought a truckle bed for my son - full size single, but slides under a single bed - it has legs that can then be pulled out to make it a normal single bed (if that makes sense). So he was basically sleeping on the floor. It made a huge difference to his sleeping, as he hated his cot. When he got bigger we just pulled out the legs so he had a normal bed.

can you take the sides out of the cot to make it into a mini bed? Would it be low enough?

    hi, thanks for your replies.

i can't take the sides off the cot as it is quite high up.

i think i may try and take his mattress out of his cot this week and try him on the floor, to see how he gets on with no bars around him to cage him in!!! (i think it will be a tough night!!)
Lead me not into temptation, I can find the way myself.

Ikea has a cheaper one as well, i suppose you could paint it yourself any collour:

And the mattress starts from £25, so depending on what you would like, you can have it for as little as £64..

Cheaper Ikea beds tend to be cheaper for a reason.

I put my son into a full sized single at 1 year, it was up against a wall on one side and I got a safety barrier (I think it came form mothercare)on the otherside.

I got rid of that bed 2 months ago after having it somewhere in the region of 5 years. It was a good fit in DD's very small box room, however DD is now 11 and outgrown it.

For the money spent its a really good bed, its stood plenty of jumping on!
