Hello
I did away with my makeup collection many years ago due to allergies
then for 22+ years only had one or two lipsticks every few years
just recently I restarted makeup
and allthough there are thousands of very beautiful makeup items
I was amazed at the cosmetics counters since I had not been there in many years
in my makeup bag;););)
5 lipstick ( 2 reds 2 pinks 1 plum )
1 lippencil rose
1 highlighter transparant face powder
1 black kohl pencil
1 e/s palet 4 neutral colors (browns)
2 single e/s gold & plum
1 blusher raspberry powder
moisturizer Hydrafresh L Oreal have been using this many years
I remember from when I discarded the makeup way back then 2 dried out very pretty colors Lancome lipsticks which I barely used because their being expensive
If and when I buy a high end lipstick again this time I will use it up and enjoy it
Powder based makeup has a longer shelf life like 2 years but fluid things is 6 months and mascara is 3 months for hygiene reasons. These days the euro cosmetics have a mark on them like an open jar stating months of use after opening product.0 -
hey guys/gals i just remebered.............
did anyone see the superdrugs promotion where if you bag and returned a bag of old or semi used makeup and toiletries you could 10% off something new (with voucher)., i know that this ended end of May but you could keep them all - that you want to chuck and hopefully the promo will come back again .,.,,you never know?!0 -
I do like my make up and toiletries but I have started really cutting back on what I buy. I use a website called Beauty Swap Shop occasionally to swap items that I may have used once or twice (like eyeshadows etc) and I find it’s a good way of ridding my make up bag of mistake purchases and getting to try new things from other people.
I am a bit of an eye shadow addict as I tend to play up my eyes more than anywhere else. I have a thing about green eye shadow as I know it makes my eyes look good and this has resulted in me having lots of different shades of green eye shadow (mostly Barry M dazzle dusts or MAC pigments) in my make up bag. I could do with getting a few more neutral colours really, I have a stable favourite cream eye shadow from Avon that I use a lot but I could do with a couple more. There is a lady in the US that I occasionally buy small pots of MAC pigment from at a great price, the smaller pots are enough for a decent amount of usage. They are good to test if I will use the colour a lot if I really like the colour after using the small pot regularly then I will consider buying the full sized pot of it.
I adopted a one in one out rule ages ago with my make up and toiletries as I was gathering too much stuff. Now I only buy a foundation if my other one is literally about to run out and I have learnt don’t bother trying a new one but to stick with my age old favourite as nothing else comes close that I’ve tried. Same with mascara, the only one I like is a Lancome one but to save money I buy the mini gift with purchase ones off Ebay as they are smaller so are less likely to dry up before I use it all.
