Could be friom immediate to up to 3 days, my advice make sure the money is in your account so that you do not incurr bank chargesDon`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
My current account, linked to the debit card, showed the reduction in available balance within minutes of completing the form filling online."The state is the great fiction by which everybody seeks to live at the expense of everybody else." -- Frederic Bastiat, 1848.0

I have just applied for the NS&I direct ISA
However, I noticed that you require a Switch/Maestro or Visa Debit for the initial deposit
My Solo card has the Maestro Logo on the reverse side so I used this as its the nearest thing I have
It didn't come up with any message saying 'incorrect number' or similar so I hope it will be OK, I am unsure though
Do you think it will be OK? Don't want any inconvinience0 -
Not sure why all the fuss on this ISA.
At present it is still more convenient to open and keep the A&L Direct ISA.
Thinghs might change later in the year or next year, but other offers might come up as well. So I am not sure why people are rushing in this, specially given the A&L accepts transfers in, so it is easier to manage!0 -
I applied online this morning but my bank would not authorise the debit card transaction. I telephoned my bank who didn't know why as I had the funds.
So I had to telephone NS&I and apply that way. I told the lady who answered about my problem with the website and she said it was okay. (Perhaps I applied too early, 7.00am, but I didn't press her on this). She took down details of my application and promised to open the account in about an the hour (when I judged the rest of the staff would be in).
She seemed competent enough, but now I don't have any idea whether the account is open or not. I will just have to wait for comfirmation throught the post. (I will keep an eye on the balance on my current account too, to see if the money leaves my account).0 -
I just put my 3000 in it - over the phone - dont even have to go to the post office to do it. - you cannot transer any existing isa to it though0

Opened account 7.00 am on 6th (Thursday). Still don't know if my £3000 been taken. On Friday, it looked like £3000 was being debited because my "available funds" was £3000 short of what I could work out looking at my online statement. It is often out of sync like this.
Saturday morning and the "available funds" went back up by £3000 -- could just be because its the weekend. I will look tomorrow to see what is pending, and if it is not going out, I will ring them up and complain.0
