I used these people on ebay -

    item: 310080539287

They are printed on a sort of ribbon, which you make a loop and only have to sow approx 1cm along the top of (you don't even have to do it neatly if you hide it under the neck label!).

I put them underneath the label that is already in the neck of the jumper etc, so it is visible poking out underneath.

I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so I got them done in DD's school colours, and used one to make a cute little label on her PE bag (gingham one, also in school colours from ebay!) they wash really well aswell and have the best choice of pictures I found!

I found it so exciting getting everything ready!!!

As someone who works in a school I am just really glad there are people out there who know how to put names in clothes! Thank you all.

By the way, I bought about 100 pre-printed labels when DD started school, but had hers and DS's initial plus surname printed (sew in ones) and folded the unnecessary initial under! They lasted until they finished in Secondary.

I think the other parents at DD's school need a lesson. There are loads of jumpers etc in a big pile in her class alone, the teachers even resorted to putting them all on the grass outside yesterday in the hope the parents would look at them and take them back home! There's not a day go by where I hear one parent telling the teacher their child has lost a jumper and the first thing the teachers ask is if there was a name in it?! their reply "no" well  what do you bloody expect then!! you just need to dedicate an evening to name labelling and it is so much less hassle in the long run! they specifically tell you to do it in the letter you are given when you start aswell

sorry I do go on abit when I'm up late!!!

I buy the woven sort and sew them onto the existing label with a sewing machine (have to move the garment out of the way first) as I am bone idle. This is a quick way of doing it.
Have tried indelible ink pens but find this fades after a few washes and needs redoing.

    Hi

You can order iron on, sew on and ones that go in shoes from the Clarks shop. Sorry don't know what they cost but the shoe ones would have been a godsend when my 2 were younger

I agree with mysuni and Aria30 have used Namelabels for about 5 or 6 years and although they are not the cheapest they are long lasting, I have 4 childrens stuff to label, plus guide and scout uniform/camping gear/sports gear etc. so have saved a lot of time.

I have the stick on labels from www.jjcash.co.uk/. I also use them for the name labels and have used the taggits before. These are generally good and thank you to forumfan for giving me their website (ordered from infant school previously). They can break however so the name label may come out. However, this has been on a very rare occasion.

:jSave yourself some money and buy a permenant laundry marker pen. Just write on the label of the clothes.
Cheaper, and the one I bought from Mothercare 7 years ago is still going strong after marking EVERYTHING for my three little ones!!

Someone must have read my mind when they posted this thread!

We used to have the woven type printed with our surname in the middle and mine & my sisters name either side ie Jane Smith Mary . Then you can cut off the extra name.

Mum always cut the labels out of old clothes & reused them too! Very moneysaving!!:money:
