Tesco - Parent/Child + disabled car spaces

Ok so I know this isnt the point of the discussion and I know that it may not be the same in all Tesco (or any supermarkets) but I can assure you that the fine letters DO come straight from the DVLA as I myself have had one
. At this point I woud like to point out that it was a Tesco system fault and not cos I was naughty :rotfl:. Our fines are issued to anyone who parks for longer than 3 hrs (done by camera) and all staff were to tell the store of their registration numbers to stop this happening but as always, in the word of Tesco, it went tits up
I am not in any way trying to get out of paying fines as I dont even own a car (use mums when she is away) and I am not going to keep going on about the tickets/fines etc as I know this is not why the discussion started - lets get back to the original rant?????Emma
Aug GC - £88.17/£130
NSD - target 18 days, so far 5!!0 -
People with low moral values abuse the system, often encouraged by information from sites like this.
Some people abuse the system. When you can get a £80 'fine' for staying too long in a carpark by a matter of a few minutes, its also clear the 'system' can be guilty of abuse too.If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -
Oh here we go. The parent and child spaces are for people with babies and toddlers and are not necessarily closer to the store but have a wider space in order to get the child in and out of the car more easily.
Using that argument, it was perfectly reasonable for the guy in the large 4x4 to use the wider space, wasn't it? Especially if he was a big, fat bloke. He might find it difficult to manage in a normal space.
I honestly don't get the whole struggle that people have when taking their children shopping. I managed with 3 children in a people carrier (two under 18 months) in an ordinary space. It's not impossible, and it's not even that much more difficult than being in a P&C space.0 -

tbh, they are welcome to use the bigger child spaces. I have yet to meet a child who was that careful of other people`s cars0

In Scotland parking in disabled spaces is now an offence. As laid out in the Disabled Persons' Parking PLaces (Scotland) Bill.
Perhaps you could lobby your MPs to bring in a similar one, or even suggest a more stringent version which includes 'Parent and Toddler' bays too.
It seems pointless to have these things if they are going to be abused with no form of redress.0 -

.
AFAIK this still only applies to local gov car parks etc - ie not private land [Tesco et al]??? Happy to be corrected.0 -

It would be up to the owner of the car park to ask for there car park to be an enforceable area. I know a few of the major supermarkets are on board with this already.
Also, the feeling was that if people know it is illegal in some places to park in a disbabled bay they are less likely to do it anywhere - just to be safe.
Hopefully anyway!0
