Avoid Alton Towers at all costs

Recently 10 of us went for a day outing to this place and we managed to get on a total of 4 rides. The qeues where absoultely horrendus and we were queuing between 45 to 80 minutes per ride.
We tried to get express queing tickets to be told that they had sold out. These cost an extortionate £8 extra anyway and from what people told us did not make that much of a difference
For your own sake save your cash, this place is terribly organised , it took us 2 hours to get out the car park as they have a little lane where cars go down one by one baring in mind they have hundreads of cars trying to get out this is disgracful.
TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY THEY CHARGE YOU £5 FOR USING THEIR CAR PARKS
As this is a money saving site i must tell you all to save your cash. Terrible organisation at this place and it ruined the day of all us, but why would they care they did pocket £180 from us all plus the extra cash we had to pay in doing other things to avoid having to enter more 80 minute long qeues
Pass this on to anyone thinking of going

when did you go? weekend? bank holiday?
i was going to go for the sunday before the bank holiday, thinking it would be quiter. the b n b said go on the monday, as everyone had the same idea. so we did, and it was 5 minute queue's on everything. it was great.
but the price, the car park, the quality, i agree its all pretty bad, the only saving grace is the short queue times if your lucky.
dont go anymore, i go to flamingo land for cheaper thrills, it was suprisily good, and port aventura in spain was amazing. it was straight back on for most rides, and all rides far, far better than any ukTarget Savings by end 2009: 20,000

It all depends when you go really. When schools are off its going to be chaos at the park. I went last week and went on every ride only having to wait for around 15mins on a couple of rides. Also for anyone thinking of going look on ebay for the free passes the sun were giving out. I got 2 for 10 quid, saving me a fortune. I still wasn't amused at the car parking charge though - oh well can't have it all I suppose lol!0

What time did you arrive? We live near AT and go a lot during the summer. Turn up at opening and you will be able to get onto the major rides fairly quickly, turn up at 11.30 and of course you are going to queue! We are pass holders so get in there at 9 as a few rides are open. We leave at lunchtime and amazed at the people still turning up!
The same can be said of all good theme parks though.0 -

We went the 4th of this month and had a fabulous day there. It was a school day but we asked for a days holiday as we had free tickets from the sun. We only live 15 mins away but must say this time the (the only time ever!!) the weather was kind and we loved it. There were no queues hardly and we took a pack up with us so a really cheap day. We came home soaked though cause if you are going to go on the log flume there or the rapids then make them last call.
The longest queue was "rita" which my daughter loved so well worth it. Nemisis and Air were ok for queuing. Definately advise you to go on a shcool day which we have never done before.
Please don't be put off peeps.0
