Land of Leather - Sofa Insurance

Options
Hi There,

I bought a sofa from Land of Leather about 3 years ago, and was talked into purchasing the sofa insurance too (£200)!! I tried to make a claim (Was through HomeServe), which was within the guidelines laid out in the T&C's, but my claim was unsuccessful! Told me it was wear and tear etc...

I was just wondering if there was anyway of claiming back the money for the sofa insurance?

Thanks! :D

    Hi there

    Sorry to hear that.
I would definately complain and try to reclaim on this then.

Below is the link to the PPI reclaiming and guidelines, also templates.
When using the templates, write in your own reasons as you stated in your post, and they have 8 weeks to respond.
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance

You write to the ones who arranged and sold you the policy.
Another letter maybe required if they do not resolve in your favour on the first response, keep at them until you receive the final response, and they should also give you details of the financial ombudsman service (FOS) if your not satisfied with the outcome of your complaint.

Good luck and please keep us posted and ask for help when required.;)

(Post all letters by recorded delivery).

    Have they?
Not too sure on that one.

Wonder if they are registed with the FSCS (Financial compensation scheme) then, I will try to check this out, thanks for mentioning this.;)

    Hi,

Yes, it was Land of Leather that initially sold me the sofa insurance. I have a copy of the invoice, showing the £200 for the insurance.

    Hi hun

Gonna check this out for you on Companies house, in case they have gone bust, so if this is the case it may be that you will have to put in a claim with the financial compensation scheme (FSCS) if they are registered with them, give me a few mins and will check out some details with an address if any as well for you.;)

    Hi there

As promised in my above post, just checked Land of Leather out and as MCNeff stated they have gone bust, in other words into Adminstration, they are no longer active, details here below as found on "Companies house on Companies search".

    Name & Registered Office:
    LAND OF LEATHER LIMITED
    HILL HOUSE
    1 LITTLE NEW STREET
    LONDON
    EC4A 3TR
    Company No. 02855433

    spacer.gifspacer.gifspacer.gifspacer.gifStatus: In Administration
    Date of Incorporation: 21/09/1993

    Country of Origin: United Kingdom.

I would either try to contact the administrators for more details, such as a short letter to the above address, as it seems this may be the administrators address, and ask where can you try to make a claim in regards of Land of Leather, or you can contact the Financial compensation Scheme (FSCS) and ask if they have them listed with them, ring them and they should confirm this to you.

If they are listed with the FSCS, then arrange for them to send you out a claim form, contact details here, you could do this first before writing to the above address, good luck and please let us know, so we can continue to help you through this.;)
