I have never lived in Inverness , my children live there in North Kessock with my ex partner , myself im from the North West in Preston and before you say anything lol IM GOING BACK !
Jeez.....I'd lived in Preston most of my life, now that is a dump! Well, a suburb of Preston, a nice area but avoided going in to Preston like the plague! I couldn't wait to get over the border to live in Scotland! I adore Inverness and although have never been to Fife I am damn sure it must be better than Preston! I also have a husband that was brought up in Wakefield where you are moving to...inner city slums are what most of outer Wakefield is all about...I was born in Leeds, and my parents moved to Lancashire to escape the dreary weather, poor areas and crime! I then insisted my husband and I move to Scotland after 4 years travelling all over most of it..mainly west coast I'll grant you, but I didn't see one place I wouldn't prefer to live in rather than any town in North West England. Glasgow is fantastic, Inverness is a beautiful wee city, the Highlands are a dream come true for a girl who loves walking, climbing, fishing etc.....and my dream cottage in rural Dumfriesshire is the best place in the world! I have to drive 4 miles to the nearest shop, my village is quaint and peaceful and there isn't a sight of a local authority house or noisy lads who drink all hours and spend their leisure time fighting and breaking into cars unlike in Preston!
You think Wakefield and Leeds are great?????? You haven't lived there mate!
Yes, there is a Scottish/English divide and I for one am an English girl who crossed over the border to the best wee country in the world! You won't find a friendlier race than the scots!~What you send out comes back to thee thricefold!~~0 -

Lol look at a map , Fort William to the south 60 miles or so , to the East Aberdeen 100 miles ! and my god if you ever do venture up the A9 to Caithness god help ya ! My kids lived just south of John O Groats in a village called Lybster 3 years ago DESOLATE !
Please folks dont think i dislike SCOTLAND I DONT ! ask my wife i absoluteley love the scenerey here from the lovely rivers around Pitlochery as you travel on the train , to the Queens View at Loch Tummell . I spent many years as a child in Fort william in Glen Nevis in the 70s with my Mum and Dad and so wanted to come back . It is a beautifull country , i cannot take that away from it BUT the fact remains places like Kirkcrappy n Glendrosses are terrible places to live .....
I've been to Lybster when I stayed in the John 'O' Groates area for almost 3 months. Yes, it's bleak up there, I didn't take to it much because there are no mountains, it's very flat.......Caithness as a whole is quite rural. John 'O'Groates is pretty but not a lot there, but you can go over on the ferry to the Orkney's and that is breathtaking! I used to dream of living only 60 miles from Fort William...it's a beautiful place and the hours I have stood on the sea-front looking out at Ben Nevis....I used to cry when I had to leave to come back to England....I missed the deer on the roads, the 'passing places' you only get in the Highlands and my goodness....the Isle of Skye and the road to the Isles....I used to travel for 10 hours to get to that part of Scotland. An hour away you have Inverness, 1 1/2 hours Isle of Skye....and you left that and wanted to come back to Preston?????????? You are looking forward to living in Leeds/Wakefiled???? Are you serious???????
I truly find it hard to take in what you are saying.......you stayed in one of the most beautiful places....~What you send out comes back to thee thricefold!~~0
