I can't remember what the forms were like (and I know DS3 should be doing his round about now so I should find out soon!) but we definitely had a space to put DS3 in when DS2 first applied, and I think DS1 was on there somewhere as well (as he was still a student but not declaring our income because under the old system it wasn't worth it).
DS1 and DS2 were definitely 'linked' in some way.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
anyone else experiencing the same difficulties getting the right info from the DWP??
I do not pay tax on my benefits and so do not/have never received a P60U, have requested on numerous occasions the statement of benefit for tax year 08/09 and get sent the 09/10, something they say I requested .
Student finance had a form to send into the DWP which has been withdrawn allegedly because of wrong info put on it and wont do anything regarding the financial assesment part until they receive the info they want.
Our daughter has received the forms to sign stating what she will get but these obviously have no maintenence grant and have been calculated at the 72% rate because the required statement of benefit is still awaited, even though we are well under the £25K limit.
She is scared to sign the forms and send them in for fear of SF coming back and saying that as she signed them she accepted it, I am worried sick she wont have anything to live off whilst at Uni and no one seems to be able to do anything apart from say they have requested the statement to be sent again.
The stress and worry i can just do without it isn't helping my disability whatsoever.
forgot to say the DWP advisor said they didn't have that info and to go to the tax office who said we cant help speak to Job centre Plus who would only advise me to speak to the invalidity dept who just keep giving me wrong info and sending out wrong statements.
the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing, why cant i sit down with someone face to face who I can explain everything to making sure they understand !!0 -

The question about parents income says "Total Income Received" which if it were plain English would mean the amount that arrived in my account. Is this question meant to mean NET or GROSS income?0

I'm doing this from memory, mind, I know I put gross figures down ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
No it does not say 'gross' in the notes, it says look at the box in the P60.
Ditto for self employed income, it asks for total income received, and the notes do not say id this is pre or post tax.
Incompetent government as usual.
(while I am having a rant, it is currently not possible to phone the DVLA - which I would only dream of doing once I have already spent 30 mins exhausting their website for the form I need - get the message we are too busy to receive calls, please see our website and the call is terminated).0 -
P60 Problem
Hi, We have sent all the necessary finacial evidence off to the Student Finance in support of the Maintenance grant for our son.
Today I have received a letter from them ( a very badly written Letter) - I quote-
'Thank you for your p60 2008/2009. The tax code is slightly low ie 580L as against the standard 603L is this year.
Do to this we have added £230 to your income. If you wish to have reviewed please send us a P1 1D for 2008/2009 or P2 for 2009/2010.'
I am not understanding why the p60 is not good enough, it's got what I earned and what tax I paid. The inland revenue gave me this tax code.
Also what is a P1 and P2 1D.
I'm confussed, can anybody shine a light please, Thanks.0 -
Found the forms ( they can't even get the form numbers correct in the letter)
P11D - Expenses and Benefits.
P2 - Coding notice form.
Another thing I'm not understanding my tax code at present is 624L, nothing has changed, same job etc.
We had no problem getting the EMA for our son.0 -
SFE are just using it to look at why you're tax code is different, be it you're receiving taxable benefits in kind, allowances, or underpayment of income tax in a previous year.0
