Both of which were a more expensive option when I renewed my wife\'s car insurance in March.

I'm sorry but are jackieb and gordikin related. Are you saying that you bought the cheapest insurance yet didn't pay admin fees. Have I understood correctly?

Result then! My premium was £139....minus £80 I got from quidco...so £59 net!

They were the cheapest option for us. What's cheaper for me is not necessarily cheapest for you. For gordikin they were more expensive than other insurance companies.
And no, we didn't have anything to pay with either insurance to change our address.

POINT IN NOTE TO DUNSTONH AND RASKAZZ.

This is why insurance needs more regulation. Why is it fair that some companies charge minimum and dont charge admin while others do. The plot thickens and shows itself for what it really is. As I expected!!!!! One only has to dig a little deeper to find inconsistencies in the system.

I say that the law needs to be changed to make it fairer for all involved.

Excuse me for a second Nevica.

“No, he doesn't. Read his post history” yep feel free bet I have helped more than you.

What he actually does is good old traditional British knee-jerk reactionism. (no such word as reactionism Mr Scrabble well there is but shouldn't be) His threads are full of unfocused and illogical rants against the UK financial system. When people actually debate specifics - or, heaven forbid - ask him to back up his arguments with evidence he becomes very evasive and refuses to engage in adult debate (example ?)Several threads where posters have asked for advice have been spoiled by his puerile antics (like what, when), and at least two have been deleted by the board's admin (one was mine and the other nothing to do with it being deleted nowt to do with me that was insurance bods). Add a load of nonsense about 'Zorro' and you have quite a mix, none of it good.(boring I like Zorro Amigo lol)

IIRC he takes this attitude to insurers because they didn't pay a claim for him, either because he didn't disclose facts correctly or he simply didn't understand the nature of the product that he purchased (and your evidence is what?),

I am of the opinion all IC’s are corrupt, immoral unethical and greedy if that’s what you mean rakasss.
Campaigning to recycle Insurance Policies into Toilet Paper :rotfl:

I can go into M&S and pay ~50p for a tin of baked beans. When I get to the checkout, they'll charge me for a carrier bag.
If I go to Tesco, I'll pay 29p for a tin of baked beans and they'll give me a free bag.
That is the whole point of business.
If you got your way, every company would have the same prices which means we'd all be paying more.

There is absolutely no excuse for not reading the policy booklet and understanding the conditions. Even if you don't read the whole booklet, at least read the Key Facts document - these usually state the admin fees.

Why is it fair that some companies charge minimum and dont charge admin while others do.

Because they have a choice how to price the products they sell. Just as any other retailer does.
I say that the law needs to be changed to make it fairer for all involved.

you say the law should be changed to effectively make it more expensive for most people. Not fairer. You also want to restrict consumer choice.

Why should laws be passed that restrict consumer choice and increase prices?

I was charged nearly £55 by Direct Line for updating my policy with my new car details. I find this a bit excessive - I'd be happy to pay £25 as that seems like a fairly reasonable charge for an admin job, but £55? Didn't have any choice in the matter though, so there you go.
