Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Mon 15th JUne.. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone is welcome, so please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have screens, or slow internet connections, so please DON'T post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning. Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!
Morning everyone.
Well it's absolutely GORGEOUS here this morning. Blue sky and sunshine. Not sure how long that will last but it's sooooooo nice to have it on hols!
Had lovely day at Glastonbury despite DS being a holy terror due to lack of sleep. Didn't make it up the Tor (probably a good thing) but had a lovely walk round the shops and then the Abbey.
Then very MSE we went to Clarks village to get DD her first pair of shoes! Choice was bit limited as she has quite big feet but managed to get a pair so she seemed intrigued.
Made spag bol last night. the mince I'd bought from Asda. It was vile. It seemed really greasy (despite me spooning off the excess fat). I miss my Costco mince. It tastes far superior. So all that hard work and effort (it's just not as easy cooking when you don't have your usual utensits/pots for some reason or is it just me) and it was awful meal. Think I will stick to chicken for the rest of the week!
Eating with H's relatives tonight so at least a break for me.
No idea what our plans are for the day. DS given me his cold so feel a bit pants at the mo. Might go and have another coffee and pop a paracetamol.
Have a good day everyone OS or not.

Morning bitsy and all who follow
Hope you are all well. Beeen AWOL again for the last few weeks, many apologies - it's exam time up here, so between work, invigilating and marking, I've not had time to breathe. Invigilating is the worst, you're not allowed to do anything whislt you sit there and I don't sit still well for 20 mins, let alone 3hrs! Plus the room they put us in this year was right at the top of a stone spiral staircase in a little round turret with gargolyles staring in from the windows. Both me and the students are in full academic dress as well, so it's very Harry Potter.
Had mushroom pasta last night for tea (well, OH had pasta, I had pasta sauce and pots) - a good friend of ours gave us a load of dried ceps as she is moving in with people who don't eat fungi for religious reasons - these plus the dried cauliflower fungus we found last year and the fresh ones in the fridge worked quite well. I bought OH a copy of Antonio Carluccio's mushroom book, which is lovely - I really like his cookbooks as they are so simple yet produce really good results.
It's my birthday soon, and aparently we are going somewhere for the weekend. I have no idea where, other than it's a place I've never been before and we leave from Lutonshould be fun. Off to Brussels next month as well.
Right, must go and do my cells before my boss gets inHave a good day all. cel x

Good morning
Glorious day here too. Yesterday went well, all enjoyed the trip to the beach. The weather was perfect - not too hot. The fish & chips, & ice creams went down well too and we found lots of lovely shells and had great fun feeding the gulls.
Normal shift today & will have to think about OS stuff later. Have got sausages out for a casserole but that's it so far.
Have a good day everyone.
Bitsy - hope your cold gets better soon, enjoy the rest of your holiday.

Morning peeps
bright and sunny here too today :j the forecast says light showers later so i may manage to get the washing on the line for a while later.
I woke before the alarm this morning which surprised me, it was set for 0410 and i woke 15 mins before so i managed to fit a bit of ironing in before leaving the house. It felt good knowing that it was still cheap rate leccy
My pepper plants have a couple of flowers on :j i`ve never grown peppers before and we love them, they are expensive so i thought that i would try this year, fingers crossed that they don`t end up like prunes
The tomatoes are flowering and we are overwhelmed with lovely tasty salad leaves, i`m loving the garden atm.:D
My meal planner is currently lost in the depths of the enormous bag that is stuffed underneath my desk, my next job is to find it and see if anything needs to be taken out of the freezer for tonights meal whilst there is still time to ring DH and get him to find what ever is needed:D
Right offski to do some rummaging followed by w*rk.
Have a great Tuesday peeps.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Morning all,
Celyn, which religion will not let you eat fungi ?, got me intrigued that one.
Beautiful day here again :T, not sure I have any washing though  think I might take the bedroom curtains down and give them a good wash.
General jobs to do today, as well as some paperwork. I think its gammon steak, jersey royals and salad for tea.
Yesterday we had roast lamb, it was the best bit of lamb I have had for ages, really tasty, there is enough meat in the freezer for another meal for the three of us, and Little dog had the tasty bone.
We went out walking last night, got in after 8, its so nice to be able to get out, we went to Arundel and walked along the river, we saw some water voles, which have become very rare, but are being reintroduced into this area, very cute.
Hugs to Beth, hope all is ok with you xx
Smoky, hope you and the children are ok xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Good Morning
Had massive storms here last night, thunder, lightening and hail stones. Need to inspect the veg patch this morning, make sure everything is ok.
Boring day here today - loads of paperwork. Have a man coming at 10 to look at sorting a dent in my car door. Has broken the paint so I want to get it sorted before winter. Have no idea what it might cost - fingers crossed its not too scary.
DS is at home today, he suffers from seasonal asthma due to hayfever, only seems to affect a couple of times in the summer but last night was bad so he can recoup all day. Hope he is better as after school they have intlatable fun with a barbeque.
Dinner will be the barbeque at the school if we go - no idea if not :rotfl:the freezers are full so dont think we will starve.
Have a good day & (((hugs))) to anyone who needs one.

Morning Chums ,sun blazing down already here in North Kent.I am going to the movies this morning .Our local cinema has a 'grannies' session where for £3.00 and a cuppa and a biscuit you can see a film.I missed Gran Torino when it was released so I am going for my Clint Eastwood fix this morning, should be cool in there as well.Tomorrow is my big day at the hospital when I see my surgeon and she tells me how my mammogram is, and if I am still clear, so fingers crossed.
Apart from that not a great deal to do today.I went to see my 9 year old grandsons computer exhibition at his school and he really is doing very well It was great to see how the children all seem to be so adept at using the modern equipement and take it all for granted. At his age I was thrilled skinny about seeing a biro !!!
Their school has some Apple Macs and they certainly are amazing machines.makes my one year old computer look like a very old fashioned 'cat's whisker' by comparison. I hope every one has a good day in the sun what ever you do.
Cheers Chums

Celyn, which religion will not let you eat fungi ?, got me intrigued that one.
I think her new flatmates are Hare Krishna. I remember going to a temple festival years ago in London with a friend of mine and I know they tend to avoid garlic and onions too because of Ayurvedic principles (same in Buddism if I remember correctly). I wonder if mushrooms fit in in the same way and are therefore not a worthy offering (all food is offered prior to eating). My friend wouldn't eat them because they "fed on dead matter", but I don't know for sure what the underlying philsophy is.:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -
Thanks Celyn, thats really interesting, think I will google it later for more info xx0
