HBOS? No such company, please be accurate this isn't a forum about tropical fish. A lot of people may of heard the term "traveller's cheque" but that doesn't mean they know what it is.
How can you say there is no such company as HBOS? Have you NEVER lived in the UK before. I think the quote was refering to Halifax Bank of Scotland, so I hate to urinate on your bonfire honey, but it is factual. As for the travellers cheque comment, I think you will find most people on here are of the artistic type, not the autistic type.0 -
HBOS is no longer a legal trading name. Try either Bank of Scotland PLC or the odd advert with the words "Halifax". Both of course now owned by someone else who would not want anything to do with "HBOS".
As a 20 year+ long customer of the Bank of Scotland I was very pleased to see them drop the disgusting 'H'. Very damaging for everyone in the UK. It took the bank to nearly fall into bankruptcy for the 'H' to go but at least it's gone.0 -

I'm a Bank of Scotland customer and the 'H' has not damaged me in the slightest. I can't see how a single letter can bankrupt a bank, lol.
It's... just a letter
. I'm sorry to hear the 'H' has affected your life so dearly, but it hasnt affected mine. I certainly hope you can recover from the unfortunate damage and distress the 'H' letter may have caused you. You could perhaps try having it expelled from the alaphabet? We’ve had to remove your signature. HBOS plc is still in existence and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Lloyds Banking Group plc. HBOS plc is a holding company for the Bank of Scotland plc.HBOS is no longer a legal trading name. I applied for a Virgin Credit card recently, all I want to do is transfer the balances of my other two credit cards so I can pay them off. But even though I have a good credit rating (no missed payments, payments on time, had credit accounts for years) they refused to give me one, saying because my credit cards were nearly at their limit they didnt want to take the risk.
The person I spoke to suggested applying for a card that just uses your credit rating instead of looking at other card balances etc, but does anyone know of any that do this?! Its almost impossible to find any information! Also, credit card companies dont seem to like that fact I'm a student (even though I'm a PhD student who gets a grant equivalent to earning nearly £13,000, and I do some extra teaching work too). Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm paying a fortune in interest because my 0% interest period has finished now!
Also sorry if this is the wrong place to post, wasnt sure where I should put it!0 -
Such an ill considered and naive thing to say.As a 20 year+ long customer of the Bank of Scotland I was very pleased to see them drop the disgusting 'H'. Very damaging for everyone in the UK. It took the bank to nearly fall into bankruptcy for the 'H' to go but at least it's gone.
Actually not, it was a moron who thought buying a failing Dutch bank for an inflated price would be a good investment.
HBOS is in fact a wholly owned subsidiary of Lloyds
HBOS came into being under the HBOS Group Reorganisation Act 2006
Please, before you go flaming people at least get your facts in order along with your sense of self importance. Neither are attractive traits.0 -

You still need to be accurate when you're talking about tropical fish, you know. There are thousands of species, so you can't just say "a big green one" and expect people to know what you mean.
Accuracy can be, and should be, applied to everything!0 -
