When you move cancel the direct debit and forget to tell sky your new address

Doesnt work like that, they will eventually find you.

My son innocently missed his last payment to Sky, he had cancelled the DD too early. He went abroad for 4 years and then came back to the UK . They eventually traced him to my house where he hadnt lived for 7 years.
They had passed the debt on to an agency who were looking for him.
they were jumping up and down cos i wouldnt give them his phone no.
I told them he would get in touch with them, which he did within in week and paid this last payment over the phone. The princely sum of £14.00
It must have cost an absolute fortune in tracing him.

OP, if you are moving, why dont you just transfer the SKY to your new address for a time?
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Bear in mind that the agency probably bought that debt for a pound. So for them, it can be worth chasing small debts up.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
