I feel that the iphone is like a religion. Those who have one are very keen on it. My only miss giving what that is had a virtual keyboard. I am a very fast typer & I don't want the response to be slow or inaccurate. But from what I have seen the keyboard is great and you can type quite fast on it. Also on the new release iphone i heard that the keyboard can be rotated to be even larger. If the keyboard responce is great then I will be happy to purchase an Iphone.

I have heard that the new iphone will be out in the next few weeks or so. What would this one be called? Is the current called iphone 3G?

Friend said that if I sign up with a contact I would get the current iphone then when the new one comes out I would then also get this phone too straight away at no extra cost. Is this true.

It his is true then I might as well sign up with carphonewarehouse for the current iphone then wait a month or so for another new version to come my way also.

con you also recommend a good iphone insurance company - accidental damage, lost & stolen.

The new iphone is called 3GS. It is launched on Friday this week but you can read about it here.
    http://www.apple.com/uk/iphone/iphone-3g-s/

If you sign up to a contract now you will get the 3G iPhone. Not the 3GS. If you Pre-order the 3GS you will probably get it delivered on Friday. It's available to buy from o2, Apple, Carphonewarehouse and mobiles.co.uk
The best deal is to use Quidco and mobiles.co.uk
    See http://www.quidco.com/help/24/

If you buy the 3G iPhone now, you will not get an automatic upgrade to the 3GS. You do get a 14 calling off period but as the new model is now only days away you are best to preorder the 3GS or buy on Friday.

Thanks ec9wrr for your advice. I will wait until 9th and pop down to my local carphonewarehouse and order one there.

Would I be able to download my hotmail messages onto the iphone? Would I still be able to view the messages online too?

yes you can view your emails with your phone and still on the computer. The keyboard is a little slow which I have found.

I can see that http://www.talkcover.co.uk/apple/iphone3g/insurance.asp offer a iphone 3g insurance for £4.41. I found out about TalkCover from the MSE article that ec9wrr recommended.

Who do you have your iphone insured with?

The best deal seems to be with O2 and get a business contract + if you are an existing customer, order through the customer services number to get another 5% off your monthly tariff.

Ordered mine today, and hoping they'll manage to deliver Friday so i can play and setup over the weekend :-)

I have one contract out with o2 already around half way through. Is there any chance of me getting good deal if i take out another contract for the new iphone?

None of the companies that sell the iphone negotiate on the price or the deals available.

Although there are ways round this such as being able to get o2 staff/affiliate discount applied to the tarrif, or trading in an old phone at carphone warehouse (they will give you the value of the old handset off the price of the iphone).
