There was a fad a few years ago for something called a 'closeout sale'. I never did work out was a 'closeout' was.0 -
I think this must be Tesco's bargain offer of the week : :T
And this Co-op one made me think of Tara Palmer-Tomkinson: :rotfl:0 -
I always used to love those shoe adverts you got in those crappy little mags that came in Sunday papers - some BRITISH make you`d never heard of that weighed less than a feather and guess what - buy one pair and get another free !!!
the ad title is the thing that made me laugh though - it would ( probably still does ! ) state
YOU WILL NEVER WEAR THESE SHOES OUT ! - Bloody right you won`t ,because they look like fe£$in cheap rubbish thats why !! - priceless !!!!0 -
Some of the First bus routes in Bristol proudly display that the buses run "up to every 12 minutes" on the side. By my reckoning that means if you ran a bus at noon, and then 12:12pm, and then no other buses, this claim would be valid. You might be waiting nearly 24 hours for the next bus, but they are definitely 'up to' every 12 minutes.
Given how bad the buses are in Bristol - you are quite right! It is perfectly possible to wait over an hour for a bus which is supposed to run every 15 minutes - sadly I have done it many times!
Not for nothing do we re-name them 'worst bus' LOL!The best advice you can give your children: "Take responsibility for your own actions...and always Read the Small Print!"

My OH sent for a pair of those once (the mens ones, obviously). He did and does a lot of walking (his late parents' house was about 1.5 miles from home and he walked over there most days - didn't need to look smart!).
Anyway after about 18 months of solid wear, the shoes did go at the soles, so he packed them up and sent them back to the manufacturer. Guess what, he got his £10 refund!I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

What really gets on my nerves is ebay saying you have "won" this item. You haven't won it you have to pay for it unless they want to give it me for free.Moved in 12/09 Mortgage 126K0

I remember seeing a shelf-edge sticker in, I think, sainsburys once. It said: 96p, crossed out, 96p new price. and very very proudly, "Save 0p" !
Wish I'd taken a photo now!0 -
I also remember a story back in my small home town paper about a local DIVING ACCESSORIES shop ,that was in financial difficulties because of the recession and was to quote " STRUGGLING TO KEEP ITS HEAD ABOVE WATER "
- excellent !!0 -
The thing that comes to mind for me is those silly cough medicine and other such adverts that say:
"Nothing works better (on prescription)!"
Our line is to say (yes, to the TV): "Well, use nothing then" (or rather, do not use anything else - to be correct).
Silly adverts. They drive me mad!! lol
And thank you for all the giggles everyone. I love reading these silly things.0 -
I love this UP TO thing and closing down sale thing its really great I have noticed a growing trend and it is as follows;
A big name expensive clothing company closes on of its stores....but in fact not many people have noticed because they never shopped there.....all of a sudden there are posters in the windows and on boards outside the store saying things like "closing down sale" "everything £10 or less" etc etc.
OK so you are taken in with this and walk into the store, but inside all there is is tat that you could buy cheaper on the market stall the owners also own anyone else noticed this happening? or am i just being mean? lol0
