Easy mobile anyone?

  • If your mobile usage is less than 25p a month (75p per quarter) you surely must question whether you need a mobile or not (I'd have thought keeping the battery charged costs nearly as much).

I use the auto-top up, this is far more convenient than having to trudge to a shop to top up and you are warned in advance when you are approaching a low balance. I agree that being charged a fee to top-up is pants hence why I use the auto-top up.

I have found Easymobile one of the better PAYG providers. I've yet to find another PAYG offering GPRS access for less than £3 a Mb.

15p cross network calls (now 3p easy to easy and with 1p easy to easy SMS messages). The web based "chat" support is good (I'm on broadband so no extra costs for "speaking" to a support person. I have added my wife and son (£5 each calling credit for each added me and both of them for "referal") and we can call each other for just 3p per min.

As with anything it's a case of horses for courses. If you're a heavy user then a contract with free minutes is probably the best option, if you want a "granny in the glovebox" then Orange may be better as there is no charge for leaving the phone idle (just remember to charge the battery).

If you're a moderate user then Easymobile is worth looking at.
