Easy mobile anyone?

I've been with them for 9 months and have found them very good. Very good service. Top ups done online are now free and as long as you use more than £5 a quarter which I do there are no charges at all. I would heartily recommend them if you dont make enough calls to warrant a contract but make more than £5 worth a quarterVal

Steve mentioned exit charges. Having signed up for this the other day I got a bit worried! I've read the FAQs. https://www.easymobile.com/selfcare/emcontent/cust_services/customer_intro.html#44
Am I right in thinking then that there is only a charge if you cancel the card with credit on it - ie they charge you for sending you back money on the account? I'm not entirely sure what the negative balance is all about. As I understood the world of PAYG if you don't have credit on the phone then you can't make calls/send texts. Is this different for easymobile?0 -
They will carry on deducting 75p a month if you don't use it, so when or if you want to use the sim card again, you will have to repay all the 75p's they have deducted. Likewise the phone will not cut out when your balance hits zero, it will carry on going and then they will charge you extra for going below zero0

kai666 is right. Unlike normal PAYG deals, you can go into debt with easymobile.
As soon as you go into debt, they then hit you with more charges for every 48 hours you are in debt to them. It soon adds up.
If you are a low user, less than a fiver every three months, or think you can just use the credit up and forget about the sim, you will be charged.
Just because you can't make calls, doesn't mean they won't be charging you fees.0 -
Z1000000, where do you get your information that they will 'hit' you with more charges for every 48 hours that you are in debt to them?? easyMobile.com allows customers to have a negative balance, however if your account is negative for longer than 3 days, or if your balance goes below -£10, they will block your account & the £5 fee will be applied. Fair enough I think as you are using a service that you have not paid for. Plus it gives you the added advantage of if you run out of credit, you will still be able to send that all important text, or make a call and give you 72 hours to top up. Its all about being responsible with your money. :cool:0

Personal experience.
I may be wrong about the exact timing, but they charge you for being in debt with them.
As stated on the other easymobile link, I had an easymobile sim, when the credit got down to 50p I cancelled the sim. Unfortunately easymobile forgot, then deducted 75p from the account as I hadn't spent a fiver in three months. This ment I now owed them 25p, but while I was trying to sort out their mess, they kept hitting me with more charges for every 48 hours, or three days that I was in debt to them. There customer service department was most unhelpful while I tried to sort out their error.
I wasn't trying to use the sim, as far as I was concerned it had been cancelled.
If you are a happy easymobile customer, I'm pleased for you.
But my experience with them has been so poor, it will be a very long time before I touch any "easy" products again.

I note that they appear to have abolished their charge for topping up via the internet. Their other more worrying charges are as follows:
Crediting your account via Customer Services 75p
The 75p charge covers our administration costs.
Account blocking (negative balance) £5
easyMobile.com warns customers that their balance is close to zero. This warning is sent via email & text message when your account reaches £8, £4 & £0. easyMobile.com allows customers to have a negative balance, however if your account is negative for longer than 3 days, or if your balance goes below -£10, we will block your account & the £5 fee will be applied.
Reactivation of a lost or stolen SIM £3
If you have recovered your phone/SIM after reporting it as lost or stolen & you require a reactivation we will charge you £3.
Account closure & withdrawal of funds from your account £5
If you close your account with easyMobile.com & have a remaining balance you want to withdraw, it will be subject to a £5 charge. This covers our cost in relation to paying you the money by cheque or bank transfer.
Minimum Usage 75p
In the event that your usage is below £5.00 over a 3 month period (i.e. if your actual usage in the months April, May & June is £4.99 or less) we will apply a charge of 75p which is deducted from your account balance. This charge will be applied every month until your spend exceeds £5.00.0 -

I do not think that easyMobile is a good option for PAYG. As they have stringent rules which should not be in a PAYG setup.
The worst thing is that balance can go in negative and then they bully the subscriber. If someone is ready to accept some sort of restrictions then nothing wrong in taking out cash back offers which can end up in a free phone, free line rent.0
