Just walked in to the kitchen to see ants have totally taken over :(

Any ideas on how to get rid of them? Would rather not buy ant powder.

Was going to try bicarbonate of soda as that seems to work for everything!

My mum recommends salt, after removing whatever it is that's attracting them.
And then use a spray called Dethlac if they don't take the hint:D

Remove what is attracting them. We had this problem, one of the children had spilt something sugary, the ants soon went when we worked out where it was.

Check the dog's Kong! I brought mine in from the garden to refill after one of the mutts had carried it out there and left it on the grass overnight, when I put it on the kitchen side tons of ants swarmed out of it, they must have been attracted by the remnants of dog food in it. I had to go around with a bit of kitchen roll catching them all, oops!

We couldnt and still dont know where ours came from and it took a week to get rid. I did the following: boiling water on the ants that were in the kitchen, mopped up mess, cider vinegar with fresh mop. We then made sure we swept up daily after tea, mopped daily with vinegar and put all the sweet things such as golden syrup, honey etc in plastic sandwich bags after wiping the outside to check for sticky residue! I wiped down the kitchen bin with vinegar solution daily too. Value malt vinegar worked fine.

As I said it took longer than if we had used ant powder but they've not been back and it was both OS and cheap to use vinegar.

Apparently we shouldnt panic about not being clean etc it is just the time of year that attracts more ants not necessarily a mucky kitchen! good luck

Last time I bought an Ant Trap, worked after a few days then no more ants.
It can be left down for up to 3 months.

    we get ants every year
each time they find a new way in
we must have upset them though because they disappeared when we came back from our weeks holiday 2 weeks back
its great to see them all flying on a particular day later in the season though even though their nests are miles apart, how does that work?

Try cayenne pepper sprinkled across where they are getting in
