You were SO right! I owe you, big time. :T I'm horrible when things don't work out like they should...:oIf you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

How fantastic does that filling look? Nice shape, not a sloppy mush
Edited to add, you have eaten rather a lot of it haven't you?:rotfl:You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -

Like I said, the filling was perfect! There is quite a lot of liquid though...so the base is inevitably a bit soggy. I need to invest in a decent enamel pie dish, this one's a bit big, for a start!
And yes.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
Well done, did you know that there was a blackbird poking his head out of your pie. and where are his 23 mates then.
Well done by the way, practise makes perfectg.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
To be fair, it is only the second time I've ever made pastry, and the first time for a sweet pie. The lid tastes good, but definitely needed to be thicker, and given more time to relax - that's why it's shrunk I think. I was fed up waiting by then though. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0

Glad I could help... I frequently make my pastry too short and then have to do this! It's probably worth sticking with a pastry recipe you get on with in future, although it's good practice to try different ones, and that way you'll know what kind you prefer.
Well done on getting such a successful result!0 -
Just thought I'd add my improved pie:If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0

It looks well yummy. Interesting way of filling the pie though. Did filling the base this way make any difference to the pastry base?"Who’s that tripping over my bridge?" roared the Troll.
