Try diabling your firewall, that may work if you getting a page error, worked for me using zone alarm.0

For info, there's a pretty good website called Tom's Hardware guide which has a chart which will let you compare processors over a variety of benchmarks. I've tried pasting a !!!!!!! but that won't work for some reason...
So go to https://www.tomshardware.com and click on CPU at the top then charts. Excellent site and very useful for comparing processors to decide which one is better for a particular application. Looks like the single core 3.2GHz upgrade might actually be worth it for us gamers
Cheers JeffSpace for rent, apply within - Free trial on Thanks button though0 -

You should be able to get the old offer with 1gb memory for £440.
Thanks again, Whirly, decided that this deal IS for me and used the above link (which is working again) to place my order. Now I'll try to restrain my Jekyl and Hyde tendancies !0 -
Ok went for it (439 deal with 1Gb ram, upgraded with a) XP media b) 19" 1907FP c) 160Gb disk)
Disk not the best deal but ok at 47. means I've still got a slot free for a 300 in a few months time.
I'm getting worries about the monitor though. I've used a 1905FP. It's great. Assumed 1907FP would be better, but searching around the net suggests there are two varients floating around - an AOU panel & a Samsung panel. The samsung is super, the AOU usn't?
So if you received one, which did you get?
Apparently you can find out by
Turn off the monitor...
Then turn it back on whilst holding both the menu and + buttons
Then go to menu -> factory settings .... and it should tell you what panel you haveWhat goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots0 -
An update
If it is the AUO panel may be time to go back to dell. Apparently that panel has only 500:1 yet the spec on the website shows 700:1
http://www.dell.com/downloads/emea/services/uk/en/1707FP_1907FP.pdf
Clicking through to specs from customize and buy, also lists 700:1
Maybe it's just an american thing? So not to worry? If you get a 500:1 they'll have to replace it!What goes around - comes around

Is the £439 offer of this week better than the £399 offer of last week? I thought the £399 offer would not be repeated anytime soon .... but a very similar offer is on this week!
I bought the £399 system (with only a system restore CD upgrade) and am expecting delivery on Monday. Never bought a Dell before and don't know what to expect!
How easy is it to install an internal floppy drive?
I understand that this system has a PCI-e graphics slot ....... are there any good cards out there circa £50? Is it easy to fit this type of card? I have only installed a Radeon 9250 AGP card before.
Any links to what memory that would work on the 5150 ....... guess I am looking for another 2 x 256Mb sticks
Thanks0 -
Although it's not quite the cheapest I always get my memory from https://www.crucial.com
Easy to use site - you just select by model & it's guaranteed to work. What goes around - comes around

Fitting a floppy drive shouldn't be too hard on a 5100 because there is a slot for it. Fitting a PCI-e graphics card is no different than your Radeon AGP - just slightly different size connector.
Additional memory use the crucial memory selector. You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0 -

Sorry I don't have the technical knowledge to help with your query but..
I've opted for the £439 version of the same system and like you its my first Dell so I'd be interested to hear how you get on with it - good luck!0 -

I want to go for this deal too (with standard 80Gb HD and upgraded monitor - I hope they'll swap the free printer for an upgraded monitor - you can but try) but am concerned about the monitor. I have a 1905FP on my desk at work and it's very good but I'm concerned I won't like the 1907FP if its the AOU variety. Currently scouring my company to see if they have a 1907FP AOU so I can compare.0
