Hi, I've just done a quick google and you do indeed get lots of results.
Anyway, I'd agree with the above, we get about 5 adult meals out of 500g of mince.
But and its a big but, please keep in mind that the mince part will be made into bolognese, therefore there will be veggies with the mince and pasta.
Or as a shephards pie with mash and veg.

short_cake,
If you invite me to yours for a meal and your serving ANYTHING sweet, then a portion size should fill a LARGE bucket. lol0 -

100g is the recommended portion size for meat -I make 300g do us. 80g of veg counts as 1 of our 5, I use about 250g uncooked pasta for 4- but thats 1 man, 1 teen boy (75g each) me (60g) and a 5 yo (40g),People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

I'd go with that, for us spagetti is about 150g for two adults here.
Pasta is two handfulls - abit crude I guess, perhaps I should weigh it in future
Rice - two slotted spoonfulls.0 -
Using various websitesI worked out a single person portion size meat 100g. All veg 60-80g. Pasta 80g. Potatoes 175g. Rice 25g.
Portion size for 3 adults meat 250g. Veg 120g Pasta 240g.500g Potatoes. Rice 75g.0 -
I have found that my visual calculator is a bit skewed if I compare it to the recommended weight, and my loved ones, although not worryingly overweight, were finding their clothes getting a bit too tight. I now plate up what my eye says is the 'correct' portion for each person in the house, depending on age etc., then take about 20% off. Been doing this for a year, not one of them has noticed the difference - the extra 20%s add up to a whole extra portion for the freezer and leaves off some unnecessary calories and nobody in the house, adult or child, has noticed so don't feel deprived, and feel just has full as they did with a larger portion! It's a win win. I have also noticed that when we eat out, they don't feel the need to over-indulge and chomp up everything on the plate.0

Only 25g of rice? I use 70g of rice for my OH (manual worker) and that's only a very small amount on the plate...

I tend to make my portions a decent size. Never measure as such. Tend to ladle a good couple of those very large cooking utensil spoon sizes on each plate, or a good couple of soup ladles full.
500 grams of mince would make 4/5 meals at least, for three of us. I always use loads of onions, at least 4, plus garlic, 2 grated carrots, mushrooms, peppers, and occasionally a handful of red lentils. I always use a tin of chopped tomatoes, and perhaps a splash of red wine for my sauce as do not use stock cubes, unless vegetable ones (or HM meat), so I always end up with a huge meal simmering away in my slow cooker.0 -
I use Rosemary Conley portion pots - they give a generous portion of cereal, rice , pasta etc.
