Thanks for your input. My memory has just come back about AOL and I remember they were not that good when I last had them.
Just signed up to Madasafish.0 -
Was on dial up and now with Madasafish. This is my 1st month. Everything went exceptionally smoothly. All set up, modem etcv received and service available on the day that they said.. I have downloaded just one film and , surf for about 4/5 hours aday.. I am connecting at 2.2mb. I have just checked my monthly usage which is exactly 30days and I have only used 2.98 out of the 5 allowed.
So far, I think its very good, no dropped connections etc. Havnt had to use Customer Service, so cant say anything about that. but so far so good. I'm impressed.0 -

If we all get that we should all be very happy!0 -
I'm on AOL BB Silver 512K, my 1st years just up so phoned them for a MAC code - got my fees knocked down from 17.99 per month to 15.99 per month and a free month - So a saving of 38 quid a year which isn't too bad for a 2 min phone call.
My line won't take anything more than 512K at the moment - unless they roll out the ADSL Max here soon, I do a lot of downloads, I run linux so a lot of updates and programs get installed via the net etc. Was probably the cheapest option I could find allowing an uncapped service.
And no I don't use their awful software I have a router to take care of the connection so as far as the computers concerned it only sees a Network router that has access to the net0 -
I'm also on AOL BB Silver 512K and can't wait to leave. Customer service is dire. I'm also looking at madasafish - i surf a lot but never download videos or music. I'm have no idea how much 5GB equates too and Aol is unlimited but they will not tell you what you current usage is. It took 45 minutes on live help for them to understand my question 'what is my gigabyte usage'!!!0

I'm with AOL silver too, but although I've thought of leaving I don't want to lose my email address (i have a daughter travelling round the world and that's how we keep in touch). Any way that I can change provider but keep my email address?Total debt May 2005 £83,232

I was with AOL for years, and when I told them I was leaving and going broadband with another supplier they offered me a months free use of thier broadband service, sounded like a good deal so I said yes knowing I could still switch if I wanted. Bad decision, the promised broadband took weeks to sort out, being shuffled around AOL's call centres, the Indian ones being the worst. Eventually got it sorted, but decided enough was enough and switched. Found out later that they had taken a payment for the free month, again was shuffled around call centres, spoke to several Indians with names like Bruce and Wendy!! but they all stuck to the script that AOL puts on thier screens, supervisors were worse, just downright rude. They still have my money but hell will freeze over before I would recommend them to anyone. Apologies for the rant.0

You will lose your email address, its one of the ways they try and tie you in. I bit the bullet and changed to a hotmail account, that is independant of whatever ISP you use, so it is only painful once and you could set it up now and run the AOL account side by side until you are ready to turn it off. You do not need to use hotmail, yahoo and google mail are similar services.0 -
Just been looking at waitrose.com as a ISP. They seem to offer exactly the same as madasafish - all the screens even have the same layout. Is it the same offer under a different brand? It works out at £14.24 per month as you get 3 months free and then its £18.99 for switchers.
