Which is better for Broadband? - Talk Talk or O2?

Hi Money_Grabber13579,
It is not possible to retain TalkTalk telephone services and take 02 broadband if you are on LLU with TalkTalk. This is because your telephone line will have been removed from the BT equipment in the exchange and connected to TalkTalk equipment. O2 will need you to be connected to BT equipment in order to provide a broadband service for you and TalkTalk need you to be connected to their equipment to continue with your phone service. If O2 complete a line check it will show that your line is not currently with BT meaning they can not provide a service to you.
Cheers

Thanks Emma. I'm happy enough where I am at the moment, but just wanted to know what my options were!Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0

I am on TalkTalk LLU and have been for nearly a year. So in that case, why does the O2 broadband checker still recognise my number as a BT line and tell me I can have O2 broadband then?
Surely the database gets updated regularly? No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Hi Macman,
I can't comment on why an 02 checker would say broadband is available to you as I don't know what systems they use or where their information comes from - it may just work off the fact the number is in a BT number range rather than cable. If you are a TalkTalk LLU customer you can't get a broadband service from another provider unless your line is returned to BTs newtwork first and this would cease any services with TalkTalk because of the way fully unbundled LLU connections work.
Cheers

Talk Talk are to be avoided at all costs, usually dreadful performance, dreadful reliability and customer services is useless. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0

Hi, sorry to butt in here. Im moving to new place next week and need broadband there, but just found out that Im outside O2 LLu exchange, so Im gonna get talktalk essential package (£6.49 + 11.25 line rental).
I know for sure that there is bt landline in the new house, problem is I dont know the landline number. Can I sign up without knowing the landline no?
Anyway, anyone know if I can sign up before I move in. I will officially move in next week (there is still current tenant living there), but want to take the £50 cashback offer so will have to sign up before 21st of June which is another 2 days. Can I call talktalk and sign up now but ask them to go live after I move in?
Any help is appreciated0 -
I think that you will find that you can only get the Talktalk essential package (£6.49 + 11.25 line rental) if your local exchange has the Talktalk LLU kit in.
Otherwise it is about £32.00 per month.0 -
And you will certainly need to know the landline numberNo free lunch, and no free laptop0

Fortunately, there is TT LLU kit in my local exchange. I read in some post to check it in samknows.com. Anyway, Im gonna try to get the landline number from my landlord. But I do know that previous tenant will terminate his contract with BT when he move out.
Does it mean that I have to reconnect the landline and pay the reconnection fee with TT or BT, which is Im trying to avoid cos it will cost £60 to £130? Or I can just pay one-off connection fee which cost £29.99?
Sorry, but I've been living in uni hall all this time so all this broadband and line rental thing really confuse me0 -
Hi Siaupai,
Thanks for the PM, I've replied with information about the TalkTalk new lines service. You'd need to apply for the line in this way if the current tennants are canceling their service as an engineer may be needed to reconnect the line at the exchange.
Cheers
