Yes I do buy food at home, but I'm not able to travel back the 450 miles each way to eat what the wife has cooked !!
The fact is every other company I know pays an allowance for being away from home for food and accomodation ... except the MOD. Even the civil servants get it !!
Yes I paid a mess bill, no I cannot claim it back.
Mate other companys pay an allowance because those people pay full price for their food.....you don't! (daily rate is what less than £6 quid a day for 3 meals) thats your allowance
ANd you can claim your mess bill back however not in cash.....you claim it against your mess bill back at your unit (IE its deducted off your unit mess bill)
PADS you guys are always complaining when you truely are getting a good deal;)If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
