Yes, its pay as you dine and if you want extras eg 2 fried eggs at breakfast you have to pay for the extra egg.

You obviously have issues surrounding service personnel and the composition of the X factor.
We get cheap housing so whats the big deal? You didnt think cheap food was a big deal.

Ummmm ok, I have no problem with the cheap housing, I live in it and it suits me fine. The food is cheap and already subsidised, the government DO NOT need to pay for it altogether.
Marker is obviously confused between pads housing and the block accomodation for singlies as well. In the blocks you pay amenities to cover leccy water etc. In MQs you have still to pay for your amenities as a householder, sometimes when lumbered with substandard or unsuitable accomodation.

Trust me I'm not. In the block you get one figure that is deducted for accommodation including CT (or CILCOT same dif), its taken out of your wage from the get go. In SFA We pay £200 (approx) that comes straight out of his wage, included in that is Water, House and CT. I am perfectly aware pads pay their own utilities, bar water, as I pay them - again im pretty sure in the original post I noted I was not referring to SFA.

    Wrong about the council tax.

In SFA you pay Charge in Leiu of Council Tax, which is above and beyond the charge of the quarter and incidentally is more than the council tax that the civvies down the road pay.

Its easier to say council tax than charge in leiu of council tax, the basis is the same.

Hi, me again, When i first started going to the barracks i used to eat in Hub. Now my god, they can charge. And the food is not spectacular. Long queues, poor service and even poorer food. Apart from the cheesy chips. LOL. And then some nice person said i was able to go and eat in the restaurant. For the same price as the chips in the hub i could have a 3 course meal. Bloody good value if you ask me. Just wish they would make some decent soup. Its either very thin or you need a knife to cut it its that thick. Will be interesting to see what happens next week when i go for lunch in the Officers Mess. Not got a clue on the prices in there x x

Wrong. Two seperate charges appear on the wage slip. CILOCT and the Quarter, so they are seperate charges.

Thats just being very picky, they disappear out of his wage together before he gets paid.

I pay £200 a month, included in that is quarter, water and Ciloct.

Halton is particularily bad. However Waddington is superb, how does that work?

Waddington is not PAYD yet (Forces call it: Save As You Starve). Due to come in around Dec 2010.

I understand PAYD was brought in because the junior ranks wanted it. They said they did not want to pay for meals they did not take - i.e. when away at weekends.

My thought is that you should be careful what you wish for.

It will be like eating at Weatherspoons. Fine if you want cheap frozen heated up meals. OK now and then but no good for a balanced diet.

Suprisingly not, think we struck gold with our quarter, only thing that marked it down was location, lack of sockets and the third room to small for a bed I think, nothing that a car, extension leads and sofa bed cant fix.

Not looking forward to the next posting as we probably wont be as lucky.
