My dad has this printer and and old pc (Advent 8572) running windows 95-98.
He wants to put pics from SD card onto computer via printer, but no prompts appear on computer as I would have expected. The computer has no USB ports, what do we do?

    SD cards and Windows 95/98

SD cards were even realeased until the turn if the decade......

To get the pics onto the PC, get a mate with a more up to date PC to get the images onto a format supported by 95/98 by putting them on a cd. Any XP PC will do the job as long as the reader fits the card.

If not, go to Boots and use one of the machine in there to copy images to a cd.

Last peice of advise...... get a new PC! (It will be a good investment!)

So am i correct in thinking the only way is for me to put the pics on a disc from my computer, then dad can put them on his via the disc drive?
Is there not such a thing as a lead with a scart on one end and a usb on the other to go direct from camera that he could use?
I know what you mean about the new computer but he's 70 and only really uses it to access the internet occasionally, but has now got this new camera, so we try our best with him!

The printer must connect via parallel to the PC so I don't think that the printer will support transfer to PC.

VLT, as with anything on a PC there are 50 ways to reach the same goal. My advise (and I've been doing this for as a career for 15) is either:

    a. try a cheap memory card reader from a pound shop for.. a pound.. that MAY read the images
    b. Get the images onto a CD using a 'mates' PC
    c. get the Images onto CD using the shops equipment..

However you look at it, you neet to get the images onto a media format the 95/98 PC can read.....

Thick cable with a large connector either end.

Best way is for you to copy the photos to your PC then burn it to CD and copy to your fathers PC.

When is it his birthday as a new PC may have to be his next present.
