If someone suggests a place I'll be there - would a weekday night be suitable? About 8.00pm? Or would people prefer day light hours?0
-
Weekdays I don't get home from work till aaround 6:30pm or 7:00pm [bloody public transport! :mad] so 8:00pm in Cardiff would be just fine!
Does anyone have a preferred meeting place? I live in the Roath area so town is a just few minutes walk away for me...If I don't respond to your posts, it's probably because you're on my 'Ignore' list.0 -
I'd be up for a meeting as well - although i'm not sure if you'll feel the same when you see me in the flesh :eek:You laugh because I'm different - I laugh because you're all the same0

I must admit i feel a bit embarrassed about meeting anybody, particularly the opposite sex carrying a large debt-maybe be best meet somebody in the same fix.0

There's no need to be embarrassed about meeting up. You probably ALREADY know people who are in the same boat, but also feel slightly embarrassed about letting you know what their situation is.
To reassure people, any group/club/meeting etc we set up or get involved in would have to have the following very basic ground rules:
1. ALL information, personal details etc obtained would be treated as strictly confidential.
2. NO ONE shall be made to feel in any way crap or inferior about their levels of debt or their current situation.
More rules could be added as needed.
The idea of meeting up is purely to get to know other money savers and provide support and friendship for people who are/were in the same situation NOT to judge.
Hope that goes some way to reassuring people...
Seriously, if you are in the Cardiff/South Wales area and would like to meet up, please feel free to come along [to wherever it is we finally decide to meet!].

Someone has suggested the Shot in the Dark is a good place to meet. I personally don't know where it is but have been told it is on City Road in Roath, serves soft drinks and alcohol, and apparently is dirt cheap.
Does anyone else think this is a good place to meet?0 -

Shot in the Dark is great! It's a coffee shop/wine bar and is open quite late. It's got a great ambience. If you're a wine drinker, you can bring your own bottle for a small corkage charge.
Location-wise it's at the bottom end of City Road – from Sainsbury's on Queen Street it's a few minutes walk along Newport Road [???] and it's one of the streets on the left. I'm not great at giving directions... I'll have a look at a map and try and get some better ones later!
EDIT: see link below – I think it's on the right hand side of City Road opposite the turning for St Peter's Street or thereabouts-ish!]

Anyone fancy meeting up one night in May? I know its ages away but I'm moving house this month so want to concentrate on that. Plus there's another pay day in between!0

Sounds good to me!
I'm going on holiday in May... but only for a week [damn!]. I haven't actually booked anything yet – I am waiting for prices to drop – so I am pretty flexible with regards to meeting up.
