Anyone looking at the HSBC’s RateMatcher mortgages?

I would be looking at a monumental £3,399 booking fee to secure the same rate I booked last week for £599.

For £599 I could get 4.89% which brings HSBC rates more in line with some of the better rates being offered by other lenders.

note on the site says that june's rate matcher has gone. looks like they had a good response and decided to reign things in a little. my booking fee to match last week's rate(ish) has doubled to £1199.

Indeed managed to get down the branch yesterday to secure a 4.44% with £599 fees for 5 years

The closest rate available now is a 4.49% at a mind-boggling £2799 fees. With the same fees of £599 the rate is 4.89%
I think its naughty of hsbc to up the rates considering that they said on ratematcher web page that the previous rates were available up until July 2009

i'm afraid there was small print at the bottom which reserved them the right to make changes whenever. that doesn't look so good in big writing at the top of the advert thought does it.
