Bisoy, let me give you further information on my wife's application. As I've said before, it took nearly 3 months. This was my wife's first application for a credit card. We have been Current Account holders with First Direct for over 15 years. After my wife went into a branch of HSBC to show her documents (passport, driving license, utility bill, shoe size!!! etc......), they then wrote two weeks later to ask my wife to phone them to confirm she was real???? At the time of the application, HSBC were offering 12 months BT. After the card arrived, they said it was now 9 months BT.

    Hope this helps.

Me too.. I had a lil delay over xmas with the application form.. but there email/message customer service is super! I can't grumble at all!

What email address did you use? I applied in January and have heard nothing, tried phoning in February and got through to India where they had no record of my application - I have the email acknowledging my application so they did get it. They said someone would phone me. Guess what... no call. I didn't know what else to do.

I've got about three weeks til I have to pay back my hard-stoozed Sainsbury's balance. My stoozing career is over, I think!

my application for hsbc cc took about 2 months!! and they had me signing 2 credit agreemants, and i've just received another to sign!! i had to visit a branch to take documents after they fouled up scanning the origional doc's i sent. the wording on all the t&c's makes it look like you will be charged a fee, even after promotional offer said no fee.
all this for a miserly £2250 credit limit. ah well, it all goes on the pile.
Please note, we've had to remove your signature because it was sh*te!

If you're going to get one, apply in branch. My application took 2 DAYS from walking into bank on a Wednesday lunchtime to a courier delivering the card to my house at 8am on Friday morning. I have heard from other people that their applications have also been fast in-branch.

I'm not an existing HSBC customer so it wasn't because of that. Take a passport/photo driving licence with the paper part and utility bill/bank statement at least.

The credit limit was pretty low though compared to other cards I have. On the other hand you can balance transfer up to 100% of that limit, unlike some other cards which cap it at 90-95%.

LOL, obviously they like me!

Their efficiency was actually quite annoying (dare I say it) because that meant I got the card well in advance of my Virgin stooze ending and so lost the last month of my interest-free period with them (had to put HSBC BT through within 30 days of opening so couldn't wait any longer than I did). But better that than it taking months to come through I suppose.

I'm sure you're a very likeable person, and guess they do like you at HSBC:D , but it's probably because you live in London...the incidents of credit card theft via royal mail are through the roof in your area.

I think I will try to visit our local HSBC branch and give it a go. I knew no matter which lender we will apply any financial product not all customers will be satisfied. You win some and you lose some.Anyway I keep you all posted with the progress.
