HSBC card is it any good?

My amazon card promo rate will end last week of May.So I'm looking for a 0% BT fee free card. HSBC is what I have in mind but I have read somewhere that applications are quite slow. My friend who applied for the card last Feb. 14 has not even received her card yet although HSBC have accepted her BT from another CC.Does anybody have similar experience?

Having been a rate tart for quite sometime I've run out of options.I don't have any account with HSBC but I have an account with First Direct, do you think I have a good chance of getting the card?

Cheers

My wife applied for an HSBC card on 6th Jan 2006. The card arrived yesterday (29/03/2006). She had to visit an HSBC bank with passport etc. It was my wife's first cc in her name. The limit was £2000. Hope this helps you decide.

Thanks mrseyes and K9. That leads me to my second question, Am I in a good position to get the card if I have First Direct account? or do you have accounts with HSBC?

Have a different experience to the above...and still don't have a card yet.

It does seem to be taking a long time to get applications done at the moment, I sent off my credit agreement nearly 3 weeks ago now and they still haven't processed it.

I was told though that it's the 'Pre-Approved' department which has the biggest hold ups, and that if you go into the branch and apply you're more likely to get your card sooner.

Bagger that's a very long wait. In my experienced I had all my previous applications and the card on average of 2-3 weeks.I'll try to visit the local branch and inquire. Thank you all folks for your replies.

I didn't have any accounts with either when applying. I do now have a first direct account though!

I popped in branch with all my documents and got them to send back the agreement, seems it worked out alot smoother then most peoples doing this way.
