i would like to crack a half this year...
when leeds is past, i am going to up my long run by 1 mile a week to see if i can do the time on my feet, never mind the actual miles required!!
Its totally possible - how many miles a week are you doing at the moment over how many days??
I would make sure that the shortest is 4 miles (best would be twice a week or more if you can) and then one long run up building up to about 16 miles...then you'll be sure you can run the distance and not have the uncertainty about it.
You're right about time on feet - thats really important once you get into distance events because although the body is pefectly able to run these distances you need to adapt it to them...0 -
I'm doing 3-4 miles monday and wednesday and 6 on the weekend... so it is a big leap to a half mara.... say 13 miles a week on average!
16 miles at once seems hooooooooooge!!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
Building up to though Maz - you add 2 miles one week then go back 2 miles the next week - no need to try that 16 miles now

Also if you can find a 10 mile race to aim for in the middle that should help as 10k is a speed event (although your time will definitely improve for this as well) but 10 miles is a distance event thats relatively easy to try out

well i have emailed my CD counsellor to tell her my head isn't in the right place at the mo....and I have asked her if I can go back 3rd July...will have to food focus till then...
i'm not sure i buy into food focus really...
i have started it, i've input what CD stuff i've had and any naughty stuff...(almost daily!) and it says i should still be losing 1/2 a pound a day even though i am obviously desperately short on calorie intake.... and i have not lost anything...
not that i expect to, but why would food focus say i still am even with a deficit....? i'm confused.com
sammy - i think you're not in need of CD anymore, i think food focus and exercise will work for you now....
got any spare choc tetras?! lol! my supply is running low!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -

Yep no heavy lifting and no running for a little while - can restart full training program two weeks post op and am allowed to go for little runs from next week - thank goodness or I might go postal on someone on the underground or something
