OS Daily Friday June 12th

Options
Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Friday 12th June. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone is welcome, so please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please DON'T post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning. Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!

Morning all! am just off to help DH with his milkround as his back is playing up again. Hope you all have a pleasant day - back later:hello:

Morning. Dull and overcast down here. Day off, so I am going to "potter" about. Graden, boat, tidy etc... First day off that I have nothing planned for some time.
Portland was great, had some Dorset beer in a pub and bought some cost price fishing stuff. I was like a kid in a sweetshop!

Good meal out last night watching the sun set in the Atlantic. Bit disapointed that the menus has not changed in 3 years and the service was poor. Asked for a jug of water. Never came. Drinks not topped up had to go to the bar myself...etc. Too much chatting among themselves...naturally the tip was smaller.
Tasty food though on the whole and well presented (bread was a bit stale and not warmed).

thanks.gifFor the aniversary messages. Not sure about bliss though.....

Well folks have a nice day...

    Good Morning All

N9eav - sorry your meal wasnt as nice as it could be - I cant believe that with jobs the way there are that people still act like that.

Taplady - enjoy the milkround, I do like being out that time in the morning although it is hell to get up.

Had some excellent news yesterday - our client has major changes come August and most of the contractors in there will be out. Found out yesterday that they want us in so I am :j:j:j this has been hanging over our heads since before Xmas and if it hadnt worked out we would have looked at bankruptcy & had to let all our drivers go. We havnt been able to tell them yet as our client doesnt want to make it official till next week and OH & myself have got a lot of sorting out to do in the next 7 weeks. Wont be more money at the beginning as we buying my Dad out but at least we are working. Need to employ a couple more people though that wont be a problem at the moment.

We went out to Prezzos (2 for 1 voucher from here :D) to celebrate, but are now big time back on the MSE wagon.

Got all my cooking done yesterday and made some Cranberry muffins which are really nice. So will have lasagne for tea tonight.

Need to bung some jeans on and head down our local shop in 2 mins as need some 'womans things' for DD who announced late last night that she had run out

Sorry to have waffled too much this morning but this is such a big deal for us - still hasnt really sunk in yet.

    Have a great Friday.
    x

Hiya Twink:hello:......well done to PP!

    Morning,

Penn Pincher Congratulations on passing your TMA - you are an inspiration :A

    Salopman Belated congrats for yesterday.

Diva How did you get on at the dentist?

Sunny here today I've stopped checking the weather forecast as it's been dry for days so pegging 2 big loads out anyway. I can't believe it's Friday already where is the time going to  Plans for today are
    • Flylady list
    • Ironing
    • Making chicken curry for tea
    • Cleaning out gerbils/fish
    • Bath the dog
Going to do the sandwiches for the kids now so will be back later. ((((hugs)))) to any that need one & all those MIA xx

Edited to add - So pleased Essexgirl it must be a weight off your minds. BTW my DD has a habit of announcing lack of lady products last thing at night as well. Don't know why she can't seem to count & let me know when stocks are running down ;)

    Morning all,

Essex girl congrats on the new contract :T must be a weight off your mind.

PP well done on passing your test, I got my MOT and service done at Kwik fit, very reasonable price, and I had my brakes done at the same time, which are now gauranteed for life. I was very pleased with the service.

Off to work today, looks like it might rain again  i did a wash when got home, and hung it on the line for a couple of hours, and got it in before bed, it was mainly dry, so will leave it on the airer.

I hoovereed through, and mopped the kitchen floor last night, so a quick tidy round this morning should be ok.

Chilli for tea tonight dd will be cooking, as its her day, I fancy a nice hot one.

I am looking for a break for us in August, a cottage or something, but its all so expensive, any one got any ideas

Haribo hope you are ok, have not 'seen' you for a while

Hugs to all in need, its Friday  :j :T

    Morning everyone.

I am MINOS this morning (translates as mother in need of sleep). Was up at 3am with DS and then up from 4.30am to 5.30am with DD who then decided 6.15am was the bestime to get up. Was already tired from the week of 4am wakings by her so far this week so today I feel like a zombie. Have lots of packing to do for hols tomorrow :D Got a couple of loads of washing to do and MUST put the vac round the house. Hasn't been done all week (how slummy mummy of me!). Fortunately weather is sunny with a cool breeze so should get it dried.
Have no idea what to do for tea. Meal planning gone out the window this week a little. Might aim for something quick and easy though as want to pack the car tonight.
Could do with giving the car a good clean too, why do I decide to do these things when I have so much to do already?!!!

N9eav - sorry your meal was a disappointment. I wouldn't have bothered with a tip at all to be honest.
Essex-girl - congrats on the contract. Least you did celebrating the MSE with a two for one offer ;)
Penny-Pincher - I am not sure what a TMA is :o but congrats on passing.

Have a good day all OS or not.

    Mortgage-free Glee!
Good Morning - am enjoying the early morning sunshine here, very peaceful!
N9eav - I am so jealous! Portland is one of my very favourite spots - I love being there in all weathers and could sit on the rocks watching the sea all day - good spot for thinking and feeling at peace with myself. Now Mum has gone, have no real reason to be in that part of the world so often.
Need to finish painting spare room as am expecting DS2 for w/e.
Need to bake bread, do washing and ironing and have a general tidy-up and do some shopping too. Also need to get a couple of articles written for the parish mag. before Sunday. Ah, busy day then - best get on!
Hope you all have a good day - ((HUGS)) to any in need.

    Hi there

Been MIA on the boards a bit recently. Got my change in hours at work but loads of new systems needing to be put in place so been a bit manic to be honest. It's turned in to kind of a job share so want to make sure we are both singing from the same hymn sheet if you know what I mean. Seems like a lot of effort by my bosses at min to turn us all against each other and will not let this be another tool for them.

On the os front am hoping to go get some new cake tins and then maybe some baking but will be dependent on getting the tins. If am making cakes in a loaf tins do they generally use 1lb or 2lbs? Am lost, not hard that really!!!!

Looks nice here for now but not sure how long that will last. They have forecast rain here for the weekend.

Essex Girl - Congrats on the contract, such a weight off your mind:j
N9eve - Service isn't what it was. My father was a waiter when he came to the country and always says there is no etiquate (sp) or effort anymore.
BitsyBeans - Kids have their own alarm clock.....always there to leave you feeling a distinct lack of slee and they just know when you are in need of some :p
Redruby - I've been looking for something too but seems cheaper to go abroad
Julietiff - you have a right to be proud :T:T:T
Hope you all have a good day and :grouphug:to all that need them xxx
Although I get lonely  as a single mother there are always two smiling angels ready to give me the biggest hug in the world. Love you babies :grouphug:
