#Read up on what these cheap brands contain, bht bha all are known for cancer causing effects . Vets receive very little in the way of nutritional courses and what they do learn is taught by Hills Science Plan ... phone around ask them what they recommend. Look up 'real pet food' or 'compaign for real pet food'. These are facts.
Would you be ok eating Mc Donalds morning lunch and dinner?Help me to help you :santa2:0 -

Read the ingredients & that will help you make up your own minds - animal derivatives are not good ingredients nor are colours or perservatives or additives. Personally I am mixing a large bag my vet `prescribed' for cat that supposedly had an alergy - Hills - I was horrified when I read the ingredients but will not waste good money on giving to local cats charity (no I woudn't throw it away) - my food of choice for my moglets is Burns & raw. I do ocassionally buy JWB and Royal Canine Beauty when on special offer.0 -
I find that my cats would rather eat human food like prawns which there love and would eat all day also tinned tuna and meat like chicken fillets and sandwich meats.
Also i find that time of day you feed them counts and when its a very warm day sometimes their will only eat on a night when its cooler.
Hope this help you.0 -

Temperature makes a lot of difference some ppl put the cans in the fridge but cats won't eat it cold they like it 'mouse' temperature lolHelp me to help you :santa2:0 -
I feed my pair biscuits for one meal and wet for the other and try and try and switch brands every few weeks for variety. The only things my oldest cat wont eat are go cat dry and hills dry, so I think Im quite lucky.
The main problem I have is that some weeks he will only eat'gravy' and some weeks he will only have jelly, so I try to keep some of each in stock just in case.
He seems quite partial to gravy though, he has licked it off plates left in the kitchen. He also ate the cooling remains of a Beef stroganoff that was waiting to to go into the fridge, and i think he stole a leftover sausage once. Now we have to be extra careful about what we leave out in the kitchen.
Back on topic, he likes tuna but they won't eat it if its cold. it has to be room temperature

Tinned tuna in small amounts is ok, however it contains a lot of salt which isn't good for cats kidneys & urinary tract.
If your looking for cheap supermarket food, I'd recommend Butchers Classic. It comes in meat & fish flavours and it may even be cheaper than Kitekat. It's certainly usually found next to the Kitekat. It contains no soya or cereals which bulk out the food. It's a great food whether on a budget or not.0 -
Cats are very very very clever, given the choice of eating what is on offer or starving to death they will choose the former. My wife did the same when I took up doing the cooking so she is obviously as clever as the cat!0
