Tips to help convert them are
Tuna water - they can get really addicted
Parmesan cheese - I wouldn't use much
Dry food in the microwave 2 seconds cooks the smell - as cats have less taste buds than humans but a hell of a lot more 'smell' buds...
Also I have used a sprinkle of the dust from Thrive treats (100% Fish).Help me to help you :santa2:0 -

I've caught mine in the sink licking the plughole after I've drained a tin of tuna in it.0 -
I do love my cat, although he seems to asses what benefit he gets as to if he can be bothered to come. I'll call him over and he will ignore me I'll shake his tin of cat food and he is rubbing his head against the can and acting as though he's my best friend! lolHelp me to help you :santa2:0

A cat can survive ok on dry food - imho better than 100% on wet.
HOWEVER I have noticed with mine that if you offer too much variety they `wait' until `favourite' food comes back on the menu. Ie do not change food too often - buy lots of one thing & continue to feed it for some time - changing alot increases their fussiness.0 -
My cat is very healthy on a diet of complete dry food. She has the occasional small tin of wet food every couple of days or so as a treat but if she leaves some I am not at all bothered. She has no other food at all - no human food, no cat treats, no cat milk and is in peak condition.0

I fed both of ours the Whiskas tuna last night..they ran up to the plate, took a sniff, walked off..:rotfl:I know they're not so taken with it, but it usually goes. And go it did.
then it appears to have come back - twice outside the bedroom door, once on the kitchen floor, once on the dirty washing, and a tiny bit in the bathroom.. I'm guessing Hex was to blame, as instead of "Brrp" this morning I got "me*croak*".
He's now feeling V sorry for himself, lying on the guinea pig hutch. I'm guessing he's scavenged something from the kitchen that's disagreed or maybe got a hairball. Ah well. Floors mop.0 -
Thanks everyone for taking the time to reply.
A little update...... bought some tins of Kitekat to give a little variety alongside the Sainsbury tins.
So far I have been giving her little and often over the last couple of days and it seems to be working.
Last week I was giving her about 1/3 of a tin twice a day but now she gets 2-3 forkfulls of food 3 or 4 times a day and seems to like that much better. She is still getting roughly the same amount of food just less of it more often.
She still has access to biscuits 24/7.
Maybe I am getting ahead of myself and she is just liking the Kitekat and when that tin has gone and I give her Sainsburys she will go off it.......who knows, time will tell
Thanks again:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
nooooooooo don't give Kitekat or Sainsburys! Look at what you are feeding your cat. Compare the ingredients then look up Cat Nutrition - think cheap for the long term not short term. She might like the biscuits as she is being tricked into liking these vegetable protein diets with fat being sprayed over the biscuit. Give her a real food and she won't have problems later in life.Help me to help you :santa2:0

I have spoken to the vet about her diet and she said supermarket brands are ok. She said if Lily eats them and is happy then its all good.
Also we had Coco for 15 years and fed her mostly cheap supermarket brands. Only problem she had was arthiritis in a shoulder.
She died at xmas time from cancer.......nothing to do with problems from eating cheap food.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0
