First Plus - Bespoke Finance

Hi this is my 1st post so please forgive if this has been asked before.

We took out a loan the first plus a few years ago, and are trying to reclaim for PPI. Sent Martins step 1 letter giving 8 week's to reply received a letter within a week saying that they hadn't sold us the PPI and that is was Bespoke Finance - neither of us have heard of this company and dealt directly with First Plus.

My question is what do we do now, one week left of the inital 8, do we continue with First Plus with the Step 2 letter and perhaps a SAR request to ensure we have all necessary info should we need it. Or should we do something eles.

    Hi there

    It is that of the broker you write to, you can resend the first letter you sent to FP if you still have a copy of this, and also the copy of the letter that FP sent you so that your not send back and forth, tell them you enclose the letter from First Plus.

    However, I am sure that Marshallka will be able to help you on this one as I believe if I remember correctly that she had the same problem here.

    I will bump this up until you get some response on this, good luck.;)

    the problem is I rang First Plus and dealt with them didn't go through a broker, or wasn't told I was dealing with a broker when rang their no.

    I will contact FP for details of Bespoke, as well and sending an SAR (it would appear from other postings my best chance will ulimatly be through the ombudsman!! so need all the info I can get)

    Strange that isn't it ?

    Afterall if it was FP who sold and arranged this for you, in my opinion it should be them who are responsible.

    Do you have the company ref number details so we can try checking this out for you on FSA register and Companies house?

    I have used their contact us section to request their company Ref number and a postal address. Let see if they come back!! ;)

    I am having exactly the same problem ish with GE/ Freedom/ Bespoke finance. If you do manage to get any where please let me know.

    As First Plus customers (or having any 2nd charge loan) can I ask you to sign an e-petition on the No10 website asking that the Goverment do something to force these companies to reduce their interest rates.

    If you search for No10 and then follow the links to e-petitions and search for First Plus you will find it. Unfortunately I can't post a link as I'm a newbie.

    I can't really add anymore than I have done already in numerous other posts and unfortunately the posters have not posted back or given up but I will add that perhaps going after the lender is the best bet.

    ALso make complaints to the FSA, OFT and FOS about the fact that maybe you are being fobbed off by firstplus in that you cannot remember that Bespoke Finance had any involvement in the sale of the PPI.

    You have to remember that Bespoke were totally unregulated by anyone and had no need to be but I find this hard to believe that all these people told that Bespoke sold them PPI have never heard of them before now. I smell a rat and I think that if you continue your complaint against Firstplus and then send everything into the FOS against FIRSTPLUS and let them take a look and decide who sold what you really have nothing to lose. As long as you are adamant that their was no broker involvement then that is your next step maybe and leave it up the Firstplus to prove the involvement to the Ombudsman service. I would state to the FOS that you are being told that Bespoke were involved and you have never had dealings with this company. Firstplus were GISC members as of November 2001 so any sales of PPI after that would be covered.

    SOrry to have not been much more help but if you continue against Bespoke there is only the courts to help with that one and you have to remember that Bespoke are in GIB which makes it harder.

    Well the first 8 weeks are up from the inital letter I sent. Having received a reply fairly quickly denying all knowledge and passing the book to Bespoke, I was'nt really execting any further repsonce. :confused:

    I sent an SAR request on Monday Last week, and received my reply on Thursday (colour me suprised!!),

    No where in this information does the name Bespoke appear on any form or screen dump.

    In fact on one screen dump called Application Enquiry - Loan Details. it lists "Insurance Premium £4898.00" then next to it "No Plan Assigned".

    Does this mean we paid for insurance and they didn't do any thing with it??

    Can I go straight to FOS as I feel that any further correspondance with FP will be met with more fobbing off.

    Any advice greatly received.

    Hi there Lynda

    Did they confirm it was their final response?

    However, you can now if you want to anyway ask the FOS to investigate this for you if you want to.
    See what they say about this.

    When you state in your post about "No plan assigned", to me that looks as if no ppi, but obviously you were paying for it, but I may be wrong here.

    There is no harm in asking the FOS now, good luck with this, please keep us posted.;)
