Unwanted gold adverts?

phunkles

Is it just me or has there suddenly been a massive influx of gold buying adverts on tv??
Has anyone used one of these before??
Would you use one??
Or would you use the alternative way of selling directly to a jeweller??
Has the price of gold suddenly increased? or has the market crashed?

Just an observation

Love is the answer. At least for most of the questions in my heart,
Like why are we here? And where do we go?And how come it's so hard?
It's not always easy,And sometimes life can be deceiving,
I'll tell you one thing, its always better when we're together

Hi there, yes I think gold is fetching really good prices at the moment. Our local jeweller is advertising that they will buy for good prices. A friend took in a few odd earrings where she had the lost the other, a couple of broken chains...you get the idea and I think it was about 2grams and she got about £150 although it was obviously good gold as I took a similar quantity of the same type of thing and was offered £60...If Life Deals You a Lemon - Make Lemonade!! :j0

We keep getting leaflets through our door every couple of days. I'm thinking of taping up the letter box once the postie has been.0

I've got a few pieces from when i served on Op Granby in 1990 - 1991 (Saudi, Kuwait etc). I got them valued and they were worth quite a bit, but obviously not hallmarked.
Would these companies take non-hallmarked goods?0 -
Ive no idea Ivrytwr
Just found it strange that lately thats all the adverts I keep seeing on daytime tv (i know i know its bad)
I just wonder how dodgy it is one of them sends you an envelope and then gives you a price once they recieve the pieces so surely they could undercharge you etc
Guess thats the risk with selling into a market your not sure aboutLove is the answer. At least for most of the questions in my heart,

my mate took some stuff to one place hoping for £50 but expected £30. He offered £250, she grabbed the money and ran before he could change his mind! LOL!0

We also keep getting leaflets about gold! They just go straight in the recycling bin along with the other bumph that is constantly being sent. My mum thought we were exagerating, but we get a min of 4 a day and sometimes as many as 8-9! Is this excessive? or am I a miser! I just hate it that it is all take aways (which we would never use) gold adverts, clothes donation or churchy stuff!0

fernliebee - it's much the same here although a little less - but we are in a small village
I too am SO tempted to stick a note on the door saying no junk
If nothing else then because my dog tells anyone off that goes to the door and it wakes the baby! Grrrr

both being lost in transit, or at the other end..
i would take to local dealers, and keep within your sight at all times!Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
