I am a size 9, have wide feet and a high instep and love Evans shoe ranges. They have a great range, and usually a few pairs in the sale too!

If you're going to be on your feet all day you need low heels and a nice thickish sole to cushion them. Maybe get some nice, soft insoles. I'd say that you need at least two pairs in leather, no synthetics, so you don't wear the same ones two days in a row. Not airing shoes so they're completely dry before wearing again is very, very bad for your feet. The style you choose is rather dependent on whether you'll be wearing skirts or trousers but I second the M&S Footgloves, they are really, really comfy.
  • I do a lot of standing and walking at work. Also retail. I bought a pair of shoes from Next in the sale last year. They are very comfortable and still going strong. They have a low wedge and fairly thick soles. I don't have wide feet but a jutting athritic toe joint so comfort is imperative to me.
I agree that completely flat shoes are not good for standing about in all day. My dil had flat shoes, working in a kitchen and ended up having to get arch supports.

Hiya, I have wide feet and can never find comfy shoes. I walk a fair bit and find all my shoes give me blisters. I wanted a pair of clarks active air as they are supposed to be really comfy but I'm only 26 and thought noooooooo!! I'll be an old lady. :D well long story short had been umming and ahhing for ages found one pair that were quite nice and was going to buy them, then when I went into the shop they were reduced from £45- £29.99 so it was a good day to get them. That was a couple of days ago and I get loads of compliments on them, and not taking the pee either! :D They are super comfy, I love them! <3<3<3

    They are these ones: http://www.clarks.co.uk/find/keyword-is-horse+whisper

Don't think the pics do them any favours though, they look nicer on.
Hope you find something, I used to work in retail and being on your feet all day does get tiring!

Ive got the exact same ones!!!! They are absolutly amazing Ive got very narrow feet and these do the job perfect ( i dont work in retail anymore, but ive got to do a hell of a lot of running about in my new job)

I live in crocs too, a combination of wide/flat mean they're the most comfortable thing. Have you seen the saffron croc, it's leather, so a bit smarter than the croslite ones. I've only seen it online & although it's not the most attractive it would be ok with trousers. Or the celeste, a friend has these & they are very cute, but again they may not be smart enough.

Otherwise evans are great & have 20% off today & tomorrow (online).

    Thanks for all that.

Like the look of the Crocs Saffron and Ginger, I love my crocs.

But will nip into town and look at Clarks and the M and S ones too.

My feet are wide, small 3 1/2 and flat!

Think it is a good idea to get 2 pairs. But thats £100! But should last me a while.

Job center said they could pay for a bus pass, will see if I can get a pair of shoes out of them.

    Thanks again

As a nurse I spend hours and hours on my feet. I can work a 14 hour shift sometimes. When I first qualified I bought 2 pairs of clarks shoes (I think they were called springers) and they were machine washable with a logo on the side. They weren't attractive. I always wore a dress for work and they actually looked OK on. I got the 2 pairs for £25 and I remeber having the discussion with DD who was still in her pushchair about how horrid they were but so comfy. In desperation I bought them. I wore those 2 pairs for work for 6 years (with a 6 month maernity leave break). The only reason I finally stopped wearing them was because the insides had gone on them so I kept looking. It took me 2 years to find shoes that comfy and they were clarks slip ons at £30 a pair. I've had them 8 months and they are really uncomfy now when I do a long or busy shift.
I kept one of the pairs for gardening and decorating because I couldn't bear to get rid of them. I WILL be taking them (in all their paint stained, muddy glory!) to clarks and asking them to source me some.
I found the foot glove shoes were fairly good when I wore them years ago and my kids and coleagues always comment on how comfy the hush puppy shoes are.
Best bet is to try shoes on when you've been on your feet all day if they're for work?

Hi - I have wide feet and have spent a lot of time and money finding the best comfortable shoes and sandals - I recommend "Flyflots" - absolutely brilliant - I even wore them for my wedding last year (they do some nice ones as well as flatter ones). They are all leather with special insole that shapes to your foot with a sqidgy byt supportive leather footbed. Many are machine washable, although you don't need to wash them really, just get 2 pairs and wear them alternate days. It's like walking on air. I believe Amazon sell them the cheapest (very cheap) but if you put flyflots into Google you'll see there. I have paid a fortune for some of the other brands but I think these are the best I've found. I never wear anything else now except boots in Winter :)
