Got a retail job, shoes needed!

Hi

please feel free to move if posted in the wrong place.

I have a job offer in retail and will be working 8 hour shifts, will be given a uniform but will need to buy a smart pair of black work shoes. i have wide feet and have been living in crocs.

Do not mind spending on the right shoes, but what do other people find comfy?

Also do support tights/socks help?

Used to work in an office sat on my bum all day! Was allowed to wear crocs there.

Thanks

I used to find that support tights helped.
I have wide feet and so have problems getting shoes-well comfy shoes anyway! Have a look at http://www.vivaladiva.co.uk , Evans and even Next and M&S do some styles in wide fit.

    Good luck with the job!

Hiya, I have wide feet and can never find comfy shoes. I walk a fair bit and find all my shoes give me blisters. I wanted a pair of clarks active air as they are supposed to be really comfy but I'm only 26 and thought noooooooo!! I'll be an old lady. :D well long story short had been umming and ahhing for ages found one pair that were quite nice and was going to buy them, then when I went into the shop they were reduced from £45- £29.99 so it was a good day to get them. That was a couple of days ago and I get loads of compliments on them, and not taking the pee either! :D They are super comfy, I love them! <3<3<3

    They are these ones: http://www.clarks.co.uk/find/keyword-is-horse+whisper

Don't think the pics do them any favours though, they look nicer on.
Hope you find something, I used to work in retail and being on your feet all day does get tiring!

It is worth spending a bit more if you will be on your feet all day, I worked in retail a few years ago and went for something with quite a soft sole and flat or with a very small heel. The best find was a pair of shoes that were almost like trainers but black so smart enough to wear to work.
I find Clarks often have good shoes, or hush puppies (which they sell at Brantano) also as mentioned M & S.

Evans do some good wide fitting shoes, they have several styles that are suitable for work. I have really wide feel, and find their shoes so comfy!

I have wide feet and a high instep - a lethal combination! I thoroughly recommend M&S Footglove range; the leather is really soft (so that they don't need breaking in) and they make them in a wide fitting.
  • I would recommend Clarks shoes for comfort. I walk to work, can't drive, half an hour each way every day and then on my feet at work and get no blisters or rubbing at all. This is my second pair and my last pair wore out I loved them so much.

I wear crocs for work! I wear Alice in black. I bought a pair last year, and loved them so much that when I needed new shoes I bought the same again.

    I hate other crocs, though

When I was pregnant I got I bought a pair of shoes from clarks that are just a really basic pair of slip ons but as with alot of pregnant women I found that my feet were swollen by the end of the working day but my shoes were wide enough to still be comfy...I love them! Initally they were just meant to be for work but now I don't take them off! They were about £30/£35 but I've had them on nearly everyday since I got them!
