Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Thursday 11th June. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone is welcome, so please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please DON'T post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning. Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!

Morning. Today is my wedding anniversary, 21 years.. So as usual I am going to do something insensitive. Last year I went fishing. This year I am going to Portland, Dorset... To buy some fishing stuff :rotfl:. No seriously I am planning to be back before she gets home from work and then we are going out for a meal to a fairly nice place overlooking the Atlantic at Fistral, Newquay. I might even dress up... I usually get grief as I am suit and tie for work and then scruffy the rest of the time....
So Dorset today to pick up prizes for a fishign comp. given by a manuafacturer free. But also we can buy personal tackle at cost, so worth a drive...
Yesterday worked out great well worth going in for. got a day off back and some overtime, so medals all round.
Sunny here today, have a good one....

    Morning N9eav - :beer:Happy Anniversary:beer:

Enjoy the sunshine, we havnt any here, the weather forcast changes daily so may just as well take it as it comes.

Today I am having a cooking day, it was fil's bday Monday, and we are seeing them weekend. They have pots of money but Mil is a very basic cook and doesnt like spicy food, she doesnt like mayo, vinegar, ketchup, garlic basically anything with taste :rotfl:so the last couple of years I have made him a coupld of curries, chilli's & lasagne for the freezer. Perfect present for him and nice and cheap for me. Saying that I have forgetten to get chicken out of the freezer so will just be the mince options for today. We will also have lasagne for dinner.

Have found some stuff to ebay so will load that later, a very boring job but nice if it sells. Am not raising any fortunes by doing this but every little helps. There was an advert in a local paper for a gold company coming to a local town next week so will take all our old and broken gold and see what we can get for it. Hopefully will be a nice amount for holiday spending.

Didnt catch up with the thread yesterday so (((hugs))) to anyone who needs one.

    Morning everyone.
Congratulations N9eav on 21 years of wedded bliss. That is definately an achievement. My parents celebrated their 40th last year so only another 19 years to go for you ;) Seriously though I hope you and your wife have a lovely meal out, sounds a lovely location

Not much happening here. Might make some hob nobs in a moment to take away on hols with us (if I make them too far in advance they get eaten by me!!!). Got to pop and get a couple of things for next weeks meals from Sainsburys. My neice and nephew are round at my mums house so will take the kids round there to play this afternoon.
Apologies very little OS content lately, too busy getting ready for hols :T
Have a good day, OS or not.

    Morning all,

Bright one here, think I will put the washing out which I did last night, there might be a chance of showers, but will have a go.

Tea tonight is something with oven chips, maybe fish fingers, will go and have a look in a while.

DD came home from school yesterday bursting with news, she had been asked out :o, by a young chap in the neighbouring boys school, he is just a bit older than her, and seems like a nice boy, he is meeting her off the train this morning, its all very sweet, and I dont expect it to last more than two weeks, young love eh !! :D. ( I must admit, it made me a little bit sad, :o its another step to her growing up :o)

N9eav, Happy anniversary, enjoy your meal :T

Twink its nice to see you posting, congratulations on the new grandchild.

Smokey and Aussie, getting worried now, hope you are both ok.

big hugs toall, and enjoy the anniversary meal tonight.... where i'm from a man remembering is itself cause for celebration...

after the success of the gok'd skirt the other night i am on the look out for things to revamp, i think the key with me may be the time they take to finish... i have a patchwork quilt waiting to be done, but maybe the key was i was being too ambitious?

i am determined to have a NSD as i failed that yesterday... haha, i also have to meal plan for the rest of the week as i am going ot use up food that is in the house... also a proper shoppig list for morrisins next week, one which i cannot forget, as this seems to be my usual problem...

hope the weather is as glorious for all of you as it is here, and if not good, then at least not wet for you all... :)

    Morning all

Happy Anniversary Mr and Mrs N9eav, have a lovely meal tonight:D

Pen-Pin hope you soon feel better (((Hugs)))

Day off today, I was so tired after work yest that I was in bed by 8.45 and asleep by 8.50!!!:rotfl:Feel much better for it this morning!:D Have been up since 6 ish and doing internet banking stuff, paying bills etc. So ready to have some breakfast now and 3rd cuppa!

Have a major shop to do today, fridge is looking quite bare although there is loads of food in freezer but must get fresh food, milk, veg, fruit etc etc , so will go to a few different supermarkets I think (they are near each other) and compare offers! Need a good yohurt offer - we go through so many yoghurts that I am now considering a yoghurt maker - will have to think about that one.

Also need to clean house when I get home, and if poss do a bit in the garden - did I say day off?!?!?! - think it is easier at work lol:rotfl::rotfl:

(((Hugs))) to all who need or want them, have a good day all.

Good morning all. Happy Anniversary, Mr and Mrs N9eav!

    Congratulations Twink!

Lots of (((hugs))) PenPin - hope you start feeling better soon.

After days of rain, wind and grey skies, the sun is finally making an appearance. Hopefully, it will last for a while.

DH is working so I have a whole day without having to help with plasterboarding or something equally interesting!

WM and BM are both on, and the first load of washing is about to go out on the line. I shall prep for dinner later; we're having a casserole with some lovely beef I bought yesterday. It's local beef and I can see from my window, the cows it has come from. They've all been calving so we have loads of babies hopping and skipping around - I'm sure they think they're lambs!

I have my own online work to get on with, so I shall do that once all the boring chores are done.

Life is feeling more settled here but I still miss the children and grandchildren. Without Skype, I think I'd go mad. DIL2 looks as though she's having twins, but she assures me there's only one baby in there. She has high BP and fluid retention so has to keep her legs elevated as often as she can. She has another six weeks at work (she's a science teacher) and will start maternity leave when school breaks up for the holidays. I think she'll be glad to finish at the end of term. The nursery is all ready; they've taken photos to show me. It looks lovely. I'm knitting and crocheting for the baby, as well as for the charity knitting thread on here.

Anyway, I suppose I'd better go and get on with the chores.

Hope you all have a great day.

    morning

well we got caught in the floods yesterday in sheffield . we were supposed to be going to the pics, but the trams stopped running, and someone on the radio said manhole covers on the roads were flying off with the pressure of the water ,so we decided to go home, glad we did too because many roads were closed / damaged. it took OH 3 hours to get home on a route that normally takes 30 mins

at work today and its beautiful and sunny
need to nip to home bargains later to stock up on sandwich bags / greaseproof paper and canderel

    washing is out

hope you all have a lovely day

thankyou for all your good wishes / condolences yesterday I will pass them onto my friend x
