It most certainly doesn't.My endocinologist points out jokily that it tends to occur in families, i.e. be passed down, and that suggests that indeed, it is possible to have babies, fo many women, with PCOS.

It can make things harder though & it's best not to put the 'trying' on hold for too long.0 -
My OH moved from Ireland to England to be with me, his mother was more than less than impressed. Up until he moved both him and his brother asked how high when she said jump, and didn't have a shred of backbone when it came to her between them! Since moving over though he's really grown some balls, and stands up to her a lot, especially when shes mean about me.
<cut/>
Woman drives me batty! All I can say is once my OH moved away from her he really developed into a man, and started to stand up for himself, hopefully yours will stand up for himself and you too once he's not feeling so trapped in the middle.
OMG  What a sad & bitter woman. Your OH must be amazing for you to put up with that kind of abuse. Oh but just think how lovely it will be writing her invitation to your wedding (at some indeterminate time in the future....) :j I'd pay good money to be a fly on the wall (does that make me really baaaaaaaaaaaaad?)

MiL: It's just not possible to be happy on less than £60k a year, you talk about having a £30k salary like this makes you something (to me) trust me, it doesn't.
snipped
:TThank you, thank you, thank you!!!!! and also, please accept my sincere sympathy, you have a MiL worse than mine.
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Hi Eyeliner,
I can confirm it is possible to have children with PCOS, it was a bit of a battle but my little miracle is now 2.
I've done the whole bit including IVF.
I can't advise you on how to deal with your MIL as I don't have one

When I first read that post I thought I was reading about myself a few years back  Well my MIL wasnt quite as bad as that but my OH was still firmly attached by the apron strings. However I bit my tongue for a year and didnt take any snide comments to heart and I must have passed "the test" because now I really enjoy my mother inlaws company and vise versa. We are never going to be best m8s like I am with my own mother but our relationship is defo alot better. Weirdly enough I think the reason why we didnt exactly hit it off in the first place is cause we are actually quite alike
personality wise and the fact that I moved in with her gorgeous blue eyed son when I was only 17 and he was 21. However Im now not far off of 22 and contrary to what everyone thought we have lasted .So I think If you just try not to take it 2 much to heart and try to ignore any comments your BF will slow loosen grip on the apron strings. Another big peice of advice DONT slag off your MIL to your OH , deep down he will know what his mother is like , he doesnt need you pointing it out. Cant beleive what your MIL thinks about your PCOS. I have it 2 , it was suspected for a few years but I only got proper diagnosis 3 months ago and my MIL has been very supportive. I actually spoke to a very nice Dr last week who told me as Im otherwise fit young and healthy and so is OH that we should be able to conceive naturally without metformin etc but should expect it to take up to three years  Anyhoo Ive started to ramble slightly but thought I would share my experience with my MIL and that there is light at the end of the tunnel !!! :T :j
Thanks to MSE for making it possible for me save to buy my new flat , yay !!

It's true. I have PCOS and was told I would probably need fertility treatment- Now I have 2 beautiful children all without any help at all.

You have your work cut out Dinah93, she sounds like the MIL from hell a cross between Mrs Bouquet and Fatal Attraction.
My MIL told my my ex wife "if you two keep arguing all the time then you should get divorced"
She took her advice and now I am very happy and I love my ex MIL0 -
I had a great time this morning, complete flip side of the coin, my mum asked me when we were going to get around to having children as she is desperate to be a granny and thinks she has waited long enough (I have underlying health issues which means I needs to have kids sooner rather than later, mum doesn't want me to leave it too late as she had a really difficult time with the same issue carrying me and my brother and she was the same age as me).
I love that each mother is completely opposed, and actually my OH is more inline with thinking like MY mum and wants kids asap, whereas I'm scared and not ready and actually more on the side of his if she would just open her eyes and see it!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
Debt September 20th 2022 £2991.68- 96.92% paid off0
